Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted September 11, 2022 Journalists Posted September 11, 2022 Highfield Princess (Fr) (Night Of Thunder {Ire}) confirmed herself the outstanding sprinter in Europe by turning the G1 Flying Five S. into a one-horse race at the Curragh for trainer John Quinn and rider Jason Hart. Quinn, who described Highfield Princess as the best horse he has ever trained in the build-up to Longines Irish Champions Weekend, was vindicated for being bullish as Highfield Princess pulled clear of an up-to-scratch renewal of the prestigious sprint to win by over three lengths. The money came late for Highfield Princess, who hardened into a 5-4 favourite just before the off, and the short-price backers never had to sweat as she accounted for Erosandpsyche (Ire) (Sepoy {Aus}) in second. Quinn said, “She's a phenomenal filly. All she has done is improve. She's by a very good sire and is out of a good producer so she has a very good back pedigree. I think not racing her at two probably helped her. The rest is down to our wonderful staff and the filly.” On future plans, Quinn added, “Her next run will come in the Breeders' Cup. Two bends around Keeneland will really suit this filly so hopefully we can get her there.” The win cemented the 5-year-old's status as the best sprinter in Europe, with Sunday's victory coming hot on the heels of her G1 Prix Maurice de Gheest and G1 Nunthorpe successes.
