The Manning Valley Race Club at Taree plays host to a seven-race card on Tuesday and HorseBetting’s New South Wales form analyst has you covered with his best bets and quaddie selections. With wet weather around, they’re likely to be racing on a Heavy 8, while the rail is out 3m for the entire course. This meeting is scheduled to begin at 1:25pm AEST.

Best Bet at Taree – Mauricently

Four-year-old mare Mauricently has the class edge on a number of her rivals in Tuesday’s Class 2 over 1614m, and with only 56kg on her back, she should be too good. The Kris Lees-trained stayer raced in the Group 1 Australian Oaks as a three-year-old after running really well the week before in the Group 3 Adrian Knox Stakes at Randwick. Lees opted to spell her after her 13th placed effort in the Oaks, before stepping her out first-up over 1300m in a Fillies & Mares Benchmark 58 at Scone where she did her best work late to run fifth. Now second-up, out to the mile and dropping 5kg in weight, the mare by Maurice should taken plenty of beating. She’s placed in both of her starts at Taree and was a runner-up at her only start over the mile, while she has run well on rain-affected tracks. This is to her liking.

Best Bet

Race 6 – Silk #5 Mauricently (10)

4yo Mare | T: Kris Lees | J: Dylan Gibbons (56kg)

$4.50 with Ladbrokes

Next Best at Taree – Paradise Island

Kris Lees was the leading trainer in the Mid-North Coast Racing Association (MNCRA) in the 2021-22 season – as this race name suggests – and we are tipping that he’s in for a big afternoon at Taree. In race four, he saddles up in-form mare Paradise Island, who is aiming for three-straight wins. The daughter of Holler won at Newcastle in December, and then in her only run since on June 17, she was too good at Coffs Harbour. She trialled well at Gosford at the end of August and now comes to the races ready to win under Dylan Gibbons who has had success aboard her in the past. From the inside alley, Gibbons will have plenty of options in a race which has plenty of speed.

Next Best

Race 4 – Silk #2 Paradise Island (1)

4yo Mare | T: Kris Lees | J: Dylan Gibbons (59.5kg)

$3.80 with Palmerbet

Best Value at Taree – Lonhreel

Lees can get three on Tuesday. In race two – a Maiden over 1312m – he saddles up Capezel and Lonhreel, and while Capezel has race experience and Dylan Gibbons on her side, we are siding with the roughie of the pair. Lonhreel lines up in her race debut following three good trials behind some handy gallopers. The three-year-old by Lonhro has drawn well in barrier six and gets the services of Matthew Palmer. In her most recent barrier trial, she was wide throughout, but we thought she stuck on gamely to suggest she could win a country maiden. This is within reach.

Best Value

Race 2 – Silk #10 Lonhreel (6)

3yo Filly | T: Kris Lees | J: Matthew Palmer (55kg)

$14 with Neds
