Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted September 16, 2022 Journalists Share Posted September 16, 2022 To be held on Saturday night December 17 at The Meadows, The Phoenix is worth $1.65 million overall while boasting a staggering $1 million-dollar first prize making it the world’s richest greyhound race. Individuals and organisations were invited to submit an application for a $100,000 slot in the race, with applications well received. “Increasing the prizemoney, and the slot price with it, was certainly a risk in the second year but with the high-quality applications received we believe the Phoenix will soar to new heights in 2022” remarked MGRA CEO Scott Wuchatsch. “With the ongoing success of Wow She’s Fast, the inaugural Phoenix winner, we are excited to see the greyhounds set to compete in this year’s edition and to answer the question; can she go back-to-back? I would also like to thank GRV and my Board of Directors for helping to get this race to become the world’s richest greyhound race in only its second year.” Former Victorian Premier Dr Denis Napthine chaired the Independent Assessment Panel that was tasked with analysing each applicant and was joined by sports integrity experts Tara Hastings and Dean Kino. After much deliberation, the following applicants have been selected as the slot holders for The Phoenix 2022.
