Taken in hand, he rated patiently while racing two wide in company into the far turn with Space (Ghostzapper) until given his cue with just over a quarter mile to run. Still with a length to make up on the leader turning for home, Quick Hammer wasted no time reeling that tiring rival in inside of the final eighth and drawing off. $1.7m purchase Signator (Tapit), who was closing late but had to settle for second, ran out of ground as Quick Hammer went on for the 1 1/4-length win.
