Racing in South Australia returns to the Morphettville Parks track on Saturday, hosting a huge 10-race card. The track is currently rated as a Soft 6, but with no rain on the forecast and fine weather around before raceday, we could be getting towards a Good track come Saturday. The rail will be back in the true position when racing kicks off at 11:49am AEST.

Morphettville Best Bet: Yuri Royale

Our best bet on the program comes up in race seven with the Richard & Chantelle Jolly-trained Yuri Royale trying to win his third race in four starts. This five-year-old gelding has recorded five wins from 16 starts, with four of those wins coming at 1600m. This son of Good Journey was in great form with two seconds and two wins from his first four starts this preparation before getting no luck in the Listed Balaklava Cup last start, finishing seventh. The talented Victorian-based apprentice Alana Kelly will take her first ride on this guy, and if she can have him peeling wide on the bend, we should be seeing Yuri Royale winning again.

Best Bet

Race 7 – silks#4 Yuri Royale (7)

5yo Gelding | T: Richard & Chantelle Jolly | J: Alana Kelly (60kg)

$3.80 with Betfair

Next Best Bet: Sparkup

In the Benchmark 72 Handicap over 1250m we are siding with Sparkup, who can hopefully get his first win in nearly a year. The Richard & Chantelle Jolly-trained gelding has been very good in his last two runs, finishing off both of his races strong but not finding a lot of room in the straight to completely let down. If this son of Magnus can strike a good track here, while also staying in Benchmark 72 grade, he could find one of his best winning chances in some time. With the aid of Alana Kelly’s soft hands and a good ride from barrier two, this guy shouldn’t be as far back as he normally is, giving himself every chance in the straight.

Next Best

Race 6 – silks#1 Sparkup (2)

5yo Gelding | T: Richard & Chantelle Jolly | J: Alana Kelly (60kg)

$5.50 with PlayUp

Best Value: Lord Vladivostok

Our best value bet will be Lord Vladivostok, who enters the Benchmark 82 Handicap over 1400m with a great second-up record throughout his career. The Michael Hickmott-trained six-year-old gelding has won seven wins from 22 career starts, while he’s never missing a place when second-up (4: 2-0-2). This guy is reunited with Todd Pannell, who rode him to Group 3 glory in May of 2021 and has won twice on him from three starts. If this son of Tavistock can get a nice run in the three-wide running line, there is plenty of reason to have a bet on him at $18 with the top online bookmakers.

Value Bet

Race 8 – silks#1 Lord Vladivostok (11)

6yo Gelding | T: Michael Hickmott | J: Todd Pannell (61kg)

$18 with Palmerbet
