Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted October 1, 2022 Journalists Posted October 1, 2022 SENOR BUSCADOR (c, 4, Mineshaft–Rose's Desert, by Desert God) took the overland route around the far turn at Churchill Downs and sustained a rally down the center of the track to cause an 6-1 upset in Saturday's GIII Ack Ack S., earning a fees-paid berth into the GI BigAss Fans Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile in the process. Exiting a solid third to the progressive Laurel River (Into Mischief) in the seven-furlong GII Pat O'Brien S. at Del Mar Aug. 27, Senor Buscador was content to sit a trip just behind midfield while racing in the clear as longshot Surly Furious (Upstart) took them along through an opening couple of furlongs in :22.91. Going well three and four deep on the bend, Senor Buscador circled up wide into the lane, dueled into the final eighth of a mile with 13-1 Injunction (Skipshot) and got the better of that final-furlong tussle to score by about a length. Three Technique (Mr Speaker), winner of the Hanshin Cup S. over this course and distance July 4, was up late for third. Market leaders Speaker's Corner (Street Sense), Fulsome (Into Mischief) and Untreated (Nyquist) were no factor. Lifetime Record: 7-4-0-1. O-Joe R Peacock Jr; B-Joe R Peacock Sr & Joe R Peacock Jr (KY); T-Todd Fincher.
