It’s all systems go for Cambridge Stud bred stayer Tralee Rose (NZ) (Tavistock) with a possible start in the Caulfield Cup before she fronts up again for another tilt at the Melbourne Cup.

Tralee Rose’s trainer Symon Wilde said the results of her recent scintigraphy at the Ballarat Veterinary Clinic gave him the all clear to continue with her spring campaign.

Wilde said they had done small treatments on her niggling issues and she was right to go.

“We’ve ticked all the boxes and given her every opportunity. She’s ready to go,” Wilde said.

Tralee Rose is number 20 in the order of entry for the Melbourne Cup.

He said she would start in either the Caulfield Cup or the Herbert Power Stakes at Caulfield as her lead-in run to the Melbourne Cup.

Tralee Rose is number 25 in the order of entry for the Caulfield Cup. Wilde said if it looked like she wouldn’t gain a start in the Caulfield Cup he would run her in the Herbert Power Stakes the week before at Caulfield.

Last year Tralee Rose finished second in the Bart Cummings before she won the Geelong Cup. She then finished ninth in the Melbourne Cup.

Tralee Rose had two starts this campaign and finished last in each of them at Caulfield in August which were her first runs since the Melbourne Cup.

Wilde said he wasn’t concerned with the length of time between runs when she had her next start.

“She’s been in work for a long time. We’re pretty satisfied she’s got the miles in her legs. The main problem is getting access to grass gallops because it’s been an extraordinary wet winter,” Wilde said.

“The Caulfield Cup is still three weeks away and we’ve got time on our side.”

Bred by Sir Patrick and Lady Hogan, Tralee Rose was sold at the 2018 New Zealand Bloodstock Book 1 Sale for $50,000 to Cameron Cook Bloodstock & Simon Wilde Racing.
