Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted October 3, 2022 Journalists Share Posted October 3, 2022 What Canterbury Races Where Canterbury Park Racecourse – King St, Canterbury NSW 2193 When Wednesday, October 5, 2022 First Race 1:25pm AEDT Visit Ladbrokes Racing heads to Canterbury on Wednesday afternoon for an eight-part program at metropolitan level. A drying forecast in the lead up to race day suggests the track could improve from the current Heavy 8; however, with showers forecast in the afternoon on Wednesday, we anticipate the meeting will end on a Heavy of some description. The rail comes out 8m for the meeting set to get underway at 1:25pm AEDT. Best Bet at Canterbury – Roots The Chris Waller-trained Roots has been nothing short of impressive in her two wins from as many starts this time in and looks set to bring up a third win on Wednesday. The four-year-old mare has given her rivals a start and then a beating in both victories, and in a field that is similar to what she disposed of last time out, she looks a clear best bet of the day. With the rise up to 60kg, Zac Lloyd hops on board claiming 3kg, so the drop to 57kg has her well weighted in this field. Her preference to settle in the second half of the field offsets barrier nine, and with a genuinely run 1580m event expected, we expect to see Roots flash home down the centre of the track and ultimately prove too hard to hold out. Best Bet Race 5 – #1 Roots (9) 4yo Mare | T: Chris Waller | J: Zac Lloyd (a3) (60kg) $1.95 with Ladbrokes Next Best at Canterbury – Ruinart Having finished second in four of her last five starts, the John O’Shea-trained Ruinart gets her chance in the opener at Canterbury on Thursday. The four-year-old was a touch unlucky last time out when defeated by a length at Kembla Grange, and with even luck on Wednesday she should simply be winning. From barrier four, Brenton Avdulla will have this Hallowed Crown mare settled in a prominent position throughout over the 1580m. If she avoids any drama on the home turn, we expect Ruinart to put the field away in a couple of strides and bring up a long-overdue win. The $4.20 on offer with online betting sites looks a fair price to take on. Next Best Race 1 – #1 Ruinart (4) 4yo Mare | T: John O’Shea | J: Brenton Avdulla (59kg) $4.20 with Neds Best Value at Canterbury – Diva Diva Diva Diva bought up a maiden victory at start five at Hawkesbury on September 22 and looks well placed from the Joseph Pride stable as she steps out in BM72 company. The four-year-old mare gained a gun run in transit and, despite hitting the lead a fair way out from home, had enough in the locker to fend off her rivals in the final furlong. From barrier five under Jason Collett, she draws to gain a similar run in transit. If Collett can have her within striking distance approaching the final furlong, Diva Diva has a sharp enough turn of foot to be saluting in this. Best Value Race 3 – #6 Diva Diva (5) 4yo Mare | T: Joseph Pride | J: Jason Collett (54.5kg) $19 with Palmerbet Wednesday quaddie picks for Canterbury Canterbury quadrella selections Wednesday, September 21, 2022 1-4 1-4-5-8 4-5-6-10 1-2-4-11 Investment: $128 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
