Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted October 6, 2022 Journalists Share Posted October 6, 2022 What Port Macquarie Races Where Port Macquarie Race Club – 283 Oxley Hwy, Port Macquarie NSW 2444 When Friday, October 7, 2022 First Race 1:15pm AEDT Visit Ladbrokes It’s Port Macquarie Cup Day on Friday afternoon and we’ve got a competitive eight-race card to dissect as we add another contender on the list of hopefuls for The Big Dance on November 1. We currently sit on a Soft 7 track, and with some rain forecast across the region on both Thursday and Friday we think it’s likely to be racing on the Heavy range come raceday. The rail sits in the true position for the entire circuit, and we think it will be an advantage to those runners more towards the speed when turning – particularly early in the card. The first race is scheduled to jump at 1:15pm AEDT. Port Macquarie Cup Tip: Quality Time We don’t like using the ‘M’ word very often, but boy does this guy look hard to beat. Quality Time, trained out of the Chris Waller yard, comes to the Port Macquarie Cup in outstanding form after back-to-back dominant performances at Canterbury on September 7 and then at Rosehill on September 24. He was ultra-impressive in the latter, putting his rivals away with ease over the 1900m, and although it was a BM88 field, it had much more depth than what he’ll be seeing on Friday afternoon. He’s very adaptable and can do it on all conditions, so expect Tommy Berry to dominate his opposition from the front as he did against main rival Caboche last time. This Amaron gelding clearly has the most upside in the race and should have very little trouble kicking clear at the top of the straight with the relatively light 56kg. Expect an impressive display. PORT MACQUARIE CUP Race 7 – #3 Quality Time (6) 5yo Gelding | T: Chris Waller | J: Tommy Berry (56kg) $1.80 with Bet365 Best Bet at Port Macquarie: Charmmebaby Charmmebaby returns to the Bob Milligan stable after spending last preparation with Lawrie Mayfield-Smith, and she looks to have turned the corner as a mare. She comes here first-up after an incredible run of form up in Queensland in some very tough races, even winning second-up at Listed grade against the likes of Kubrick and Kirwan’s Lane over the mile. She was also competitive against Group 1 company in the Tatts Tiara over 1400m on June 25, beaten 3.4 lengths by a smart multiple Group 1 winner in Snapdancer. She’s only had the one trail at Taree on September 13, but it was more than enough to say she’s come back in outstanding order. Zac Wadick takes the ride after trialling on the mare by Charm Spirit, and we expect him to find a midfield sit with some cover. On class alone she’s got to be figuring somewhere in this field at a great price with online bookmakers. Best Bet Race 5 – #1 Charmmebaby (4) 6yo Mare | T: Bob Milligan | J: Zac Wadick (62kg) $3 with Bet365 Best Value at Port Macquarie: Kedah This Kris Lees-trained mare by Per Incanto looks ready to run a bold race third-up. She’s went well in tougher grade against Hope In Your Heart at Group 3 level last time, only beaten 3.25 lengths on September 16, and finds a much easier task here. She doesn’t mind the soft conditions and profiles well third-up with a record of seven starts for two wins, plus we get arguably the best wet-track jockey in NSW on board with Jason Collett taking the reins. He will sit Kedah around midfield with some cover before peeling out late down a deteriorating track, which should put the pair right in the finish for the second leg of the quaddie. Best Value Race 6 – #4 Kedah (4) 7yo Mare | T: Kris Lees | J: Jason Collett (59.5kg) $4.40 with Bet365 Friday quaddie tips for Port Macquarie Cup Day Port Macquarie quadrella selections Friday, October 7, 2022 1-3-4-9 1-2-4-5 3 2-5-6-8 Investment: $180 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
