Hall of Famer Bob Baffert sent out the top four finishers in Saturday's GI American Pharoah S., with heavily favored 'TDN Rising Star' CAVE ROCK (c, 2, Arrogate–Georgie's Angel, by Bellamy Road) proving clearly the best of the bunch and solidifying his spot in the starting gate for the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile next month. The last-out GI Del Mar Futurity winner went right to the front and seemed to play possum a bit on the turn, but opened up again when called upon by jockey Juan Hernandez, pouring it on in the lane to score by six lengths or so. National Treasure (Quality Road), Hejazi (Bernardini) and Gandolfini (Justify) followed home their stablemate in that order. The final winning time was 1:43.05. The late Arrogate–also trained by Baffert–also sired GII Chandelier S. winner And Tell Me Nolies earlier on the card. Sales history: $210,000 wnlg '20 KEENOV; $550,000 ylg '21 KEESEP.
