Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted October 13, 2022 Journalists Share Posted October 13, 2022 What Morphettville Races Where Morphettville Racecourse – 79 Morphett Rd, Morphettville SA 5043 When Saturday, October 15, 2022 First Race 12:31pm ACDT Visit Ladbrokes Racing heads back to the Parks track at Morphettville this Saturday afternoon for a competitive nine-race program. With persistent rain in Adelaide throughout the week, the track has come up a Soft 5, but come race one on the weekend we expect to be racing on a Soft 7 bordering on a Heavy. The first race of the day is set to jump at 12:31pm ACDT, while the rail is out 2m from the 1000m to the winning post and true for the remainder. Morphettville Best Bet: Ichibansan The Leon Macdonald & Andrew Gluyas-trained Ichibansan is as honest a stayer as you could hope and despite finishing second at his past two starts, he looks a clear best bet of the day on Saturday. The five-year-old gelding was lipped out by Exalted Ruth two starts back, before being grabbed inside the final 50m by Trumpsta last time out in BM72 company. He steps back in grade slight to BM68 grade and with Logan McNeil on board claiming 3kg, we expect a bold front-running performance will help Ichibansan find his way back into the winner’s stall. He looks to be the sole speed influencer in this 1950m event and considering he has only been collared late on in slightly tougher races, he should prove too hard to gun down in this. We expect the $3.40 with online betting sites to tighten in as we get closer to the jump. Best Bet Race 2 – #2 Ichibansan (8) 5yo Gelding | T: Leon Macdonald & Andrew Gluyas | J: Logan McNeil (a3) (61kg) $3.40 with Betfair Next Best Bet at Morphettville: Taunting Taunting from the Michael Hickmott yard has not been seen since his narrow defeat in the Listed Wylie Handicap on September 17 and we expect he will bounce back in finish fashion on Saturday. The four-year-old gelding simply went far too hard out in front on the minimum weight on that day and was swamped late by Shamino and Kemalpasa over the 1100m. This is no doubt an easier assignment over 1000m and despite drawing barrier 10, we expect Jessica Eaton to take a sit just off the likes of Spanish Heirloom, Yulong Command and Daring Move. When the moment comes, Taunting is armed with a strong turn of foot and as long as he is not three wide the trip, he should be winning this. Next Best Race 7 – #7 Taunting (7) 4yo Gelding | T: Michael Hickmott | J: Jessica Eaton (57.5kg) $4.20 with PlayUp Best Value at Morphettville: Eminencia The Gary & Dean Alexander-trained Eminencia was unlucky to run into a smart one at the Parks 1400m on October 1 and well to go down by just 1.5-lengths in the end. The five-year-old mare managed to put a length on the remainder of her rivals, having been aided by a gun run in transit. The I Am Invincible mare draws to gain a similar run in transit on Saturday and with East Indiaman drawn directly underneath her, she should gain a perfect tow into the race. There does not look to be much speed in the race, so it looks to be a sprint home for the money, which should suit Eminencia perfectly. The $8.50 on offer with online bookmakers looks a perfect price to take on. Best Value Race 5 – #7 Eminencia (3) 5yo Mare | T: Gary & Dean Alexander | J: Barend Vorster (58kg) $8.50 with Palmerbet Saturday quaddie tips for Morphettville Morphettville quadrella selections Saturday, October 15, 2022 2-3-7-8-9 7-10 1-2-5-13 1-2-4-5-12 Investment: $200 for 100% More horse racing news View the full article
