Zac Purton takes aim at James Macdonald's bank account

The action is starting to heat up on the track and the action off the track is just as interesting!

As we build towards the Caulfield Cup and The Everest on Saturday, we take a look at the week that was.

This includes Hong Kong-based Zac Purton taking aim at James McDonald and his bank account, a managing owner with a live chance in the Coolmore Stud Stakes needs to make a life-changing decision, as well as some incredible scenes from the dishlickers abroad!

It all sets up for a massive day on the punt on Saturday, so buckle up and make sure those beers are nice and cold.

Zac wants to compare bank accounts with JMac

Zac Purton is no stranger to a bit of controversy, but the superstar jockey based in Hong Kong has declared James McDonald would be ‘stupid’ if he stayed in Australia.

“When he (JMac) looks at his bank account, and then my bank account he’d be stupid to stay in Australia,” Purton said on radio this week.

“He can stay there, win all the trophies and still have a mortgage on his house.

Purton believes that JMac could earn 6-7x more money per year in Hong Kong.

It would be some sort of bank account JMac would gain, considering he won The Everest and Melbourne Cup last year, made connections $36.5 million during the 2021/22 racing season and in the 2022/23 has already won $9.7 million in prizemoney since August 1.

JMac has won three Group 1’s in the last six days and is set to ride odds-on favourite Nature Strip in The Everest on Saturday. We suspect JMac has nothing to worry about when it comes to his bank balance.

Get married or watch your horse in a Group 1?

Ben Lyons is hardly a household name, but he is the managing owner of Grand Impact.

Grand Impact came out and smashed his rivals in Wednesday’s Blue Sapphire Stakes and is now a $6 chance with horse racing bookmakers for the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes at Flemington on October 29.

Now get this…

This is Ben Lyons.

What would you do? Give your wife to be a good old ‘BRB’ and head to Flemington?

Or, be the bloke who got married on Derby Day and missed your horse winning a Group 1?

Don’t have to be dead to be stiff Benny boy!

Greyhound trials or WWE?

We have deadset seen it all now….

WTT have I just seen. pic.twitter.com/VtNcKa62Jc

What was this bloke thinking at these greyhound trials across the pond?

The lure was on the way, but ol’ mate decided to have a squizz at the boxes despite the pair of greyhounds itching to get out of the boxes.

From what we know the dog from trap two escaped injury free and the starter has more than a bruised ego, with the video attracting over 300k views online.
