Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted October 20, 2022 Journalists Share Posted October 20, 2022 What Morphettville Races Where Morphettville Racecourse – 79 Morphett Rd, Morphettville SA 5043 When Saturday, October 22, 2022 First Race 12:06pm ACDT Visit Ladbrokes We return to the course proper at Morphettville on Saturday afternoon for a massive 10-race program. Despite plenty of rain in Australia’s South, Adelaide looks to have avoided most of it and we should be racing on a track rated a Good 4, with the rail returning to the true position. Racing is set to get underway at 12:06pm ACDT. Morphettville Best Bet: I Am Bene I Am Bene looks a class above metropolitan grade in South Australia and the Andrew Clarken-trained four-year-old looks a clear best bet of the day from Morphettville. The I Am Invincible mare struggled in the Group 2 Let’s Elope Stakes on September 10 at Flemington, but prior to that was an eye-catching winner at Caulfield in similar company to what she faces this weekend. The step back to the six furlongs looks ideal considering he has won twice and placed from three runs at the 1200m. From barrier four, we expect Sophie Logan to lob three pairs back in the moving line and when asked for an effort, I Am Bene has a sharp turn of foot and looks a class above her rivals in a race like this. The $2.80 with online bookmakers looks a perfect price to load into. Best Bet Race 5 – #3 I Am Bene (4) 4yo Mare | T: Andrew Clarken | J: Sophie Logan (a2) (57kg) $2.80 with Betfair Next Best Bet at Morphettville: A Stadium Of Light The Michael Hickmott-trained Stadium Of Light was emphatic when breaking his maiden in BM60 company on the parks track on October 1 and considering this BM64 is no harder, he looks a great bet on Saturday. The four-year-old gelding was forced to travel three wide with no cover throughout and was forced even wider on the home turn. The Sacred Falls gelding was never on the track on that day and still put over 1.5-lengths on his rivals. We expect Todd Pannell will take him back towards the rear of the field with a genuine tempo expected throughout this 1500m event. He showed a dynamic turn of foot off the tough run and if he replicates a similar effort on Saturday, Stadium Of Light looks a great play at $2.90 with online betting sites. Next Best Race 6 – #8 A Stadium Of Light (10) 4yo Gelding | T: Michael Hickmott | J: Todd Pannell (58.5kg) $2.90 with PlayUp Best Value at Morphettville: Kungka Maru We will be looking to bow out in style on Saturday afternoon when the Ryan Balfour-trained Kungka Maru looks to go one better than his narrow second-place finish at Gawler on October 3. The five-year-old mare was taking a sit off a hot tempo and was taking considerable ground off the eventual tearaway winner and went down by under a half-length. From barrier seven on Saturday under Todd Pannell, he looks set to gain a similar run in transit and with a similarly hot tempo expected we expect Kungka Maru will relish the speed in the race and with fitness on her side, we expect the Ambidexter mare to finish over the top of some tired leaders. Best Value Race 10 – #13 Kungka Maru (7) 5yo Mare | T: Ryan Balfour | J: Todd Pannell (58kg) $13 with Palmerbet Saturday quaddie tips for Morphettville Morphettville quadrella selections Saturday, October 22, 2022 1-2-3-4-5 1-3-5-10-13 4-7-9 1-3-5-6-13 Investment: $375 for 100% More horse racing news View the full article
