The first edition of the ERA Racing 'Oscars' Awards will be held at Caesars Palace Dubai, Bluewaters Island, on Sunday, Oct. 23. Beginning at 6 p.m. local time, the invitation only event will recognise Champion Jockey, Tadhg O'Shea, Champion Trainer, Bhupat Seemar, Champion Owner, Khalid Khalifa Al Nabooda, Champion Apprentice, Saif Al Balushi, as well as several other yet-to-be-revealed winners. There will also be the Pat Smullen Award for Ride of the Season, as well as the Rising Star Award, which will recognize the achievements and hard work of a valued stable staff member. There are also awards for the Best Media Analyst, Purebred Arabian Champion Stallion, sponsored by Emirates Arabian Horse Society, and Purebred Arabian Champion Breeder, sponsored by Emirates Arabian Horse Association.

Mohammad Saeed Rashid Ali Al Shehhi, Member & General Manager of the ERA, said, “We feel it's important to recognize those who contribute so much to the success of racing in the UAE.

“The ERA Oscars will be a way of showcasing the achievements of those at the very top of our sport, as well as recognizing the hard work put in by stable staff and those behind the scenes. We hope that local racing fans will support this new initiative and also that it will serve as a fitting way to launch the new season in the Emirates, which gets underway on Friday, Oct. 28.”
