Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted October 29, 2022 Journalists Share Posted October 29, 2022 What Peninsula Cup Day Where Mornington Racing Club – 320 Racecourse Rd, Mornington VIC 3931 When Sunday, October 30, 2022 First Race 1:10pm AEDT Visit Ladbrokes It’s Peninsula Cup Day on Sunday afternoon, as they serve up a nine-race card to keep us invested after Derby Day at Flemington. It’s bound to be a very Heavy track as all of Victoria continues to be bombarded with horrid weather, so with the track listed as a Heavy 9, and plenty more rain forecast over the weekend, the Heavy 10 is likely. The rail is in the true position the entire circuit and we’re scheduled for a 1:10pm AEDT starting time. Peninsula Cup Tip: Worthily Worthily is a very lightly raced six-year-old trained out of the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace yard and looks set for a strong first-up tilt in Sunday’s feature race. With only seven career starts so far, and just the five in Australia, we have scrapped the surface of this geldings’ potential, and hopefully that can start this weekend. One of his two career wins have come first-up in his preparations, not the mention the other two minor placings were also first-up. Worthily usually produces his best work with this set up, and the training connection seem to have found this race as a launching pad for better things, and we’re confident to trust them here. Michael Poy is booked to ride here, from a soft barrier and the 54kg, Worthily should get every chance to provide an electric turn-of-foot to win here. Peninsula Cup Race 8 – #10 Worthily (6) 6yo Gelding | T: Ciaron Maher & David Eustace | J: Michael Poy (54kg) $6.50 with Ladbrokes Best Bet: Auckland Auckland comes here first-up for the Mick Price and Michael Kent Jr stable, looks a nice progressive type in the last race of the day. After three career starts in Sydney last preparation, Auckland won the latter two with style, and though the margins weren’t significant, to the eye he looks a promising prospect going forward. His last win at Kembla Grange on April 16 was dominant despite the short margin of 0.5 lengths in Class 1, stepping up to a BM64 here on the heavy conditions shouldn’t be a problem on Sunday afternoon. Daniel Moor gets aboard here and from a wider draw he could well be back in the ruck, but with luck, he looks a great bet in the get-out stakes. Best Bet Race 9 – #1 Auckland (9) 4yo Gelding | T: Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr | J: Daniel Moor (61kg) $3.70 with Unibet Sunday quaddie tips for Mornington races Mornington quadrella selections Sunday, October 30, 2022 1-7-8 1-4-5-12 3-5-6-10 1-6 Investment: $96 for 100% More horse racing news View the full article
