High Emocean was a smart winner in the Group 3 Bendigo Cup and gets her chance to claim the 2022 Melbourne Cup as a lightweight.

The six-year-old mare is one of five runners for the Ciaron Maher & David Eustace barn and if she can see out the 3200m, she is a genuine top 10 chance in the Melbourne Cup on recent from.

The Ocean Park mare has won two of her last three starts, with her only failure coming in The Bart Cummings when finishing sixth, beaten 1.4-lengths by Lunar Flare.

Is the Maher-Eustace polish enough to lift High Emocean to victory in the Melbourne Cup? Continue reading to find out.

When will High Emocean run in the Melbourne Cup?

Can High Emocean win The Cup?

Having claimed the Group 3 Bendigo Cup on a Heavy 10 on October 26, there is little doubting the fitness of High Emocean heading into the Cup. The six-year-old mare was only beaten by 1.4-lengths in The Bart Cummings the start prior and before that managed to get the better of Vow And Declare over 2500m here at Flemington. He only just got the job done in the Bendigo Cup, but winning form is good form and at $41 looks to be one who is slightly over the odds. It is hard to see him winning, but a top 10 finish would not surprise.
