Point Nepean news

Owner Lloyd Williams has withdrawn Point Nepean from Tuesday’s Melbourne Cup after he returned elevated blood results.

Racing Victoria announced on Monday morning that it had been advised by the Robert Hickmott stable that the horse would not be able to compete in the race that stops the nation on November 1.

Point Nepean is now the fifth runner owned by Williams to be scratched from the Melbourne Cup since 2007, joining King Of Leogrance (2020), Sea King (2014), Mourayan (2011) and Gallic (2007).

With the scratching of Point Nepean, it now leaves Wayne Lordan without a ride after making the trip over to Australia from Europe.

Williams is now left with one runner – Serpentine, who will go around as an $81 outsider with online bookmakers.
