Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted November 11, 2022 Journalists Share Posted November 11, 2022 What Doomben Races Where Doomben Racecourse – 75 Hampden St, Ascot QLD 4007 When Saturday, November 12, 2022 First Race 1:03pm AEDT Visit Ladbrokes We head to Doomben in sunny Queensland this Saturday for a competitive nine-race program kicking off at 1:03pm AEST. The $150,000 Keith Noud Quality Handicap is the feature event, with plenty of terrific undercard racing to go along. The rail sits in the true position for the entire circuit and we should be racing on a perfect Good 4 surface. Let’s find some winners. Keith Noud Quality: Emerald Kingdom We’re going with the class galloper in the 1200m feature on Saturday afternoon Emerald Kingdom for the Desleigh Forster yard. This now eight-year-old has continued to be a great money winner for connections with a phenomenal career record of 37 starts for 13 wins and over $800,000 in prizemoney. He’s still in great racing form after winning last start at Eagle Farm on October 29 going on to score by 3.3 lengths after leading them up and kicking clear. This race rates every similar with not a lot of speed on paper and Emerald Kingdom should get a relatively soft time of things up in front. We’re getting an each-way price to see if he can replicate his 1400m effort here over the 1200m at Doomben, and with a track record of nine starts for four wins he’s the bet for us in a competitive Keith Noud Handicap. Keith Noud Quality Race 8 – #1 Emerald Kingdom (10) 8yo Gelding | T: Desleigh Forster | J: Boris Thornton (60kg) $10 with Bet365 Best Bet at Doomben: Otyrar This horse has just continued to thrive in Queensland since the Chris Waller team have elected to head north. Otyrar has been in terrific form this preparation yet to miss the frame when starting in the state, his record reads seven starts for four wins and three more minor placings, and only looks to find a very winnable handicap over 2200m to make it win number five in Queensland. This gelding by New Approach is looking to bounce off a soft win at Eagle Farm last start on October 29 when he was simply too good for his rivals winning by 1.8 lengths. He finds a small field to contest here and winning jockey from last start Samantha Collett takes the reins again, so we see no reason to get off this guy who is airborne at the moment. Even at the shorter quote, we’re happy to make him the best bet on this Doomben card. Best Bet Race 2 – #3 Otyrar (1) 5yo Gelding | T: Chris Waller | J: Samantha Collett (54kg) $1.80 with Neds Next Best at Doomben: Count Da Beans The first leg of the Quaddie holds our next best of the Doomben meeting with Count Da Beans for the Tony Gollan stable. This three-year-old gelding by Spill The Beans is third-up in the preparation now and looks set to get a win after two very credible second placing in his first two start so far this time up. He was unlucky not to win last start at Doomben on October 22 only going down by 0.2 lengths, powering to the line late but just left his charge too late. Ben Thompson will get instructions to lead in this 1200m contest from barrier two and with fitness on his side over main danger Stroll, Count Da Beans look very hard to run down on Saturday afternoon. Next Best Race 6 – #7 Count Da Beans (2) 3yo Gelding | T: Tony Gollan | J: Ben Thompson (54kg) $3 with Bet365 Best Value at Doomben: Akihiro We found Akihiro as a value bet first-up and we’re happy to stick again this weekend. Gary Portelli trains this gelding by Maurice and looks to get his first win since August 2021, he deserves his third win after has some stop and start preparations and finally looks to have found some consistency with a very impressive first-up effort at Eagle Farm on October 29, he was beaten 3.4 lengths but hit the line very strongly indicating he’ll appreciate the immediate step up in trip here to the 1600m. He gets in well with 54kg and with Teagan Harrison looking to stick here, we’re happy to go to the well again with this guy. He’s still a great price with the top betting sites and he’ll be flying home late to get a much-deserved win. Best Value Race 5 – #9 Akihiro (1) 4yo Gelding | T: Gary Portelli | J: Teagan Harrison (54kg) $7.50 with Ladbrokes Saturday quaddie picks for Doomben races Doomben quadrella selections Saturday, November 12, 2022 2-7 2-3-5-13 1-2-4-9 1-5-7-9-10 Investment: $160 for 100% Latest horse racing news View the full article
