Scott Dickson was pleased to head home from Manawatu Raceway with a winning double on Tuesday.

The Hunterville trainer went to the Palmerston North track with six runners, with Addo Carr and Stac recording respective wins in the Mad Butcher Mobile Pace (2000m) and Pete’s Joinery & Building Mobile Pace (2000m).

“Addo Carr went well. He came back from a long spell,” Dickson said.

“He had a good run in an average field and got the job done.

“Stac is a nice horse. He just met a couple of good ones up at Cambridge and I was quite confident he would go well today and Davey (Butcher) drove him like a winner and he rewarded us.”

Dickson also picked up a placing courtesy of Ticking Over in the Colin Campbell Mobile Pace (2000m).

“He is an honest little fella and picks up a bit of money most starts,” he said.

With the exception of Red Letter Day, who has been retired after Tuesday’s meeting, Dickson’s quintet of runners will back-up at the Palmerston North Venue on Thursday, with his two other runners being Full Of Hope and Ideal Zen.

“Full Of Hope will back-up. They just ran too quick off the front for her today, which can happen when you are off a big mark. If they do the same the second day she will get the same result,” he said.

“Ideal Zen was just fair today, I thought he should have gone a lot better than he did today. He might improve with the run, but he will need to.”

Dickson is enjoying racing being back in the Central Districts, which drastically cuts down his travelling time from having to head up to Cambridge Raceway.

“It makes it easier just having a 45 minute trip as opposed to four and a half hours,” he said.

Meanwhile, Michael House was once again a dominant force at Manawatu, winning half of the eight-race card.
