Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted November 17, 2022 Journalists Share Posted November 17, 2022 What Ballarat Cup Day 2022 Where Ballarat Turf Club – 240 Kennedys Rd, Miners Rest VIC 3352 When Saturday, November 19, 2022 First Race 12:10pm AEDT Visit Ladbrokes Racing heads to the Ballarat Turf Club on Saturday afternoon for the track’s marquee event of the year. The Listed Ballarat Cup (2000m) headlines the bumper 10-race program on a track currently rated a Soft 7. Unfortunately for some, there is up to 15mm of rain forecast for the day, so finding runners who can handle wet ground will be the mission. The massive day of racing gets underway at 12:10pm AEDT, with the rail in the true position for the entire circuit. Ballarat Cup Top Tip: Lord Vladivostok The Listed Ballarat Cup (2000m) is worth $500,000 and has attracted a strong field of 14 stayers and we’re hoping the Michael Hickmott-trained Lord Vladivostok can reign supreme at a nice price. The six-year-old gelding deserved to finished closer than what he did when beaten a length in the Listed Melbourne Cup Day Plate at Flemington when chasing home Bartholomeu Dias and Just Folk. Outside of struggling in the Group 2 Linlithgow Stakes two starts back, his last month has been nothing short of impressive and with a touch more luck here or there he should have already gotten a win this time in. From barrier nine, Harry Coffey will no doubt want to have him settled in the first six with cover and if afforded that luxury, we expect Lord Vladivostok will relish the conditions and ultimately prove too tough in the 2022 Ballarat Cup. Ballarat Cup Race 8 – #13 Lord Vladivostok (9) 6yo Gelding | T: Michael Hickmott | J: Harry Coffey (54kg) $14 with Bet365 Best Bet at Ballarat: Kings Consort We will be looking to make our mark early on Saturday when the Anthony & Sam Freedman-trained Kings Consort steps out in the Eureka Stockade worth $175,000. Despite struggling in tougher company in two runs this campaign, the three-year-old gelding has been hitting the line with great intent at both starts and looks primed for this assignment third-up. He wasn’t beaten too far in multiple battles with the smart Quang Tri during the winter and in a small field of six, he will not be far from the speed throughout despite being a genuine backmarker. Race favourite Deekay will look to make this a genuinely run event and armed with a strong turn of foot, we expect Ethan Brown to have Kings Consort building through the gears and ultimately prove too hard to hold out. Best Bet Race 2 – #1 Kings Consort (2) 3yo Gelding | T: Anthony & Sam Freedman | J: Ethan Brown (59kg) $3.70 with Ladbrokes Next Best at Ballarat: Hypothetical We were with the Anthony & Sam Freedman-trained Hypothetical in the final race of the Melbourne Cup Carnival and despite being beaten by under a length on that day, she looks to be one of the better bets on Saturday. The four-year-old mare seemingly got lost down the Flemington straight during the first 600m, but once the pressure went on, she really knuckled down and produced one of the better final 200m splits of the meeting. The Pride of Dubai mare should appreciate going back around a bend and having won on Soft going and place on Heavy, we know she will handle the conditions with ease. Ben Melham will need a touch of luck from barrier 11, but if he can lob Hypothetical in a midfield position with cover, she has plenty of upside and should be winning this. Next Best Bet Race 1 – #6 Hypothetical (11) 4yo Mare | T: Anthony & Sam Freedman | J: Ben Melham (57.5kg) $3.10 with Neds Best Value at Ballarat: Parisian Dancer The Archie Alexander-trained Parisian Dancer is a genuine mudder and we are happy to side with her in this 2000m BM84 event. She has five wins from eight starts on heavy ground and managed to win over this trip at Moe on a Heavy 9 on October 14. She put in a near career peak on firmer ground when beaten 1.5-lengths in a 2000m event at Flemington during the Carnival and stepping back to a race like this should see her return to the winner’s stall. She will be giving her rivals a start from the rear of the field but armed with a strong turn of foot and wet ground, the grey should prove too hard to hold out. We all know the saying about backing greys in the wet too! Best Value Race 6 – #12 Parisian Dancer (8) 5yo Mare | T: Archie Alexander | J: Declan Bates (55kg) $6 with Palmerbet Ballarat quaddie tips for Ballarat Cup Day 2022 Ballarat quadrella selections Saturday, November 19, 2022 1-3-4 3-4-5-13 4-5-10-15 1-8-12 Investment: $144 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
