Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted November 25, 2022 Journalists Share Posted November 25, 2022 What Jericho Cup Day Where Warrnambool Racing Club – 2/64 Grafton Rd, Warrnambool VIC 3280 When Sunday, November 27, 2022 First Race 12:40pm AEDT Visit Ladbrokes The Warrnambool Racing Club will host its annual Jericho Cup meeting with a massive nine-race program this Sunday, highlighted by the $288,000 feature for the stayers. The track is currently rated a Soft 6, but with good weather around and no rain on the forecast for Saturday and Sunday, it should only improve between now and raceday. The rail will be in the true position on Sunday, and racing gets underway at 12:40pm AEDT. Jericho Cup Tip: Bazini In the Jericho Cup over 4600m, the Simon Wilde-trained Bazini will be very hard to beat after returning from a two-month spell with two placings over 2040m and 2400m. The first two starts this preparation have looked like fitness runs as they were well below his best distance range, and he worked his way home in those races in the concluding stages, suggesting he is looking for much further. Finishing last preparation, this son of Dundeel won at 3600m and 3000m to show that he is an out-and-out stayer that should eat up the 4600m. Drawing barrier 17 of 18 isn’t great for this five-year-old gelding, but if Aaron Kuru can follow The Rattlin’ Bog across from the wide barrier and sit on-speed just off the fence, he should get the run of the race. Jericho Cup Tip Race 8 – #2 Bazini (17) 5yo Gelding | T: Simon Wilde | J: Aaron Kuru (66kg) $3.80 with Bet365 Best Bet: Italian Viking In the second race, over 1200m, we will be siding with the Tony & Calvin McEvoy-trained Italian Viking, who will be looking to go one better at his third start having finishing second at both career runs to date. This lightly raced five-year-old gelding had his most recent start at Morphettville over 1200m, which has turned out to be a very strong form race, with the winner and third-placegetter going on to win a couple of races in town since. This son of Street Boss has been given two nice trials over 900m and 850m, where this guy was pushed out to win the second trial at Ballarat, showing us that he will be primed to run well first-up on Sunday. From barrier one, Jarrod Fry should be able to lead or box seat, and with any luck in running he should be pulling away from this lot on the home bend. Best Bet Race 2 – #3 Italian Viking (1) 5yo Gelding | T: Tony & Calvin McEvoy | J: Jarrod Fry (59.5kg) $2.30 with Bet365 Next Best Bet: Mask Up In the Benchmark 70 Handicap over 1000m, the Symon Wilde-trained Mask Up will be very hard to beat first-up returning from a five-month spell. This lightly raced five-year-old gelding has won both of his career starts when first-up, and they are the only wins this guy has recorded for his career. This son of Real Impact finished last preparation running fourth and seventh on rain-affected tracks, which has proven to be ground that he doesn’t like, so with a firmer track expected on Sunday, he should get conditions to his liking. From barrier two, Harry Coffey will let the speed horses go and look for a position off the fence around midfield, and with a solid race tempo, look for this guy to run home strong down the outside. Next Best Bet Race 7 – #5 Mask Up (2) 5yo Gelding | T: Symon Wilde | J: Harry Coffey (58kg) $5.50 with Bet365 Best Value: Glitter ‘N’ Gold The Lindsey Smith-trained Glitter ‘N’ Gold is getting up to the 2000m for the first time in her career. At her first start in her first preparation for Smith, this girl was stuck in behind horses coming around the home turn and didn’t see clear air for the majority of the home straight at Ballarat over 1200m. Between runs she has been given a tick-over jumpout at Mortlake over 1300m, where she ran home under her own steam and went through the line nicely. Barrier two looks to be a nice draw for this girl, and Blaike McDougall will have plenty of room to get her to the outside on the home bend and give a sight out wide for us at $14 with online bookmakers. Best Value Race 4 – #14 Glitter ‘N’ Gold (2) 4yo Mare | T: Lindsey Smith | J: Blaike McDougall (56.5kg) $14 with Bet365 Saturday quaddie tips for Jericho Cup Day Warrnambool quadrella selections Sunday, November 27, 2022 1-3-6 1-4-5-9 2-4-5-6 1-6-9-12-13 Investment: $240 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
