Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted November 26, 2022 Journalists Posted November 26, 2022 Gold Standard Racing Stable LLC's HOOSIER PHILLY (f, 2, Into Mischief–Tapella, by Tapit) turned Saturday's GII Golden Rod S. into a one-horse show, and by the time jockey Edgar Morales shut her down with the better part of a sixteenth of a mile to the wire, she'd built up a six-length margin. Floated out into the three or four path for the run around the first turn, the $510,000 Keeneland September acquisition pulled her way into a contending position, albeit trapped out three wide as T Max (Connect) showed the way. Morales slipped his mount a bit of rein as they hit the far turn and she struck to the front while still under a long hold with better than a quarter-mile to race. Allowed to extend once heads were turned for home, Hoosier Philly opened up at will and idled home a very impressive winner. Knockyoursocksoff (Kitten's Joy) made good progress from the back of the pack and split horses late to complete the exacta. 'TDN Rising Star' Pretty Mischievous (Into Mischief), bred on the same cross as the winner, was just outfinished for third. “I've never been around one like her before. She's different from anything I've ever had,” said winning trainer Tom Amoss. Hoosier Philly was running her unbeaten streak to three, having posted a 7 1/2-length victory in the one-mile Rags to Riches S. Oct. 30. Sales history: $510,000 Ylg '21 KEESEP.
