What Hawkesbury Races
Where Hawkesbury Race Club – 1 Racecourse Rd, Clarendon NSW 2756
When Sunday, December 4, 2022
First Race 1:50pm AEDT

Visit Ladbrokes

Hawkesbury Race Club will host a competitive seven-race program this Sunday. The track is currently rated a Good 4, and with no rain on the forecast we expect to be in the Good range for the entire raceday. The rail will be in the true position for the entire circuit, while racing kicks off at 1:50pm AEDT.

Best Bet at Hawkesbury – Monastery

In the fifth race of the day, we will be siding with the David Payne-trained Monastery who is coming off a third-place finish third-up over 2000m last start at Hawkesbury in a Benchmark 64. This son of So You Think has been running well this campaign, including an honest performance in the Group 2 Callander-Presnell over 1600m at Randwick on October 22. The gelding rose in distance to 2000m last start and looked to peak on his run 100m from the winning post, which should mean the 1800m this Sunday will suit him down to the ground. From barrier five, Jay Ford should have this guy outside the leader, ready to pounce on the home turn and kicking clear with 200m to go.

Next Best at Hawkesbury – Oceans One

In the opening leg of the quaddie, the Stephen O’Halloran-trained Oceans One looks a great chance to record his second win at his ninth career start. This son of Super One was very brave out in front for a long time at Hawkesbury last start over 1300m on November 9. At this track and trip, the four-year-old gelding has one win from one attempt, while he has never missed the placings at his two goes at 1100m. Now that he is hard fit after his run at 1300m, this guy should be able to lead this field up, with little pressure, and show them a clean pair of heels when he takes off around the home bend. If he gets an easy time up in front, we expect him to be very hard to run down in the concluding stages.

Next Best

Race 4 – Silk #4 Oceans One (4)

4yo Gelding | T: Stephen O’Halloran | J: Keegan Latham (57.5kg)

Best Value at Hawkesbury – Oh Golly Gosh

In what shapes as a tough race to close out the day, the Jason Attard & Lucy Keegan-Attard-trained Oh Golly Gosh looks to be a good chance at $9 with online bookmakers. Coming into this off a second-place finish at this track and trip on November 9, this daughter of Artie Schiller will have derived a lot of benefit from that first-up run. She has also finished in the top two at three of her five runs at the 1300m. With a good amount of speed engaged, the race should be run to suit her and this mare should be storming home down the outside late to record her third career victory.

Best Value

Race 7 – Silk #11 Oh Golly Gosh (3)

5yo Mare | T: Jason Attard & Lucy Keegan-Attard | J: TBA (58.5kg)
