Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted December 6, 2022 Journalists Share Posted December 6, 2022 What Wyong Races Where Wyong Race Club – 71-73 Howarth St, Wyong NSW 2259 When Thursday, December 8, 2022 First Race 1:50pm AEDT Visit Ladbrokes Provincial racing heads to Wyong on Thursday afternoon for a competitive seven-race program set down for decision. There’s minimal rain forecast over the coming days, so the currently listed Good 4 track looks to be a fair assessment of the likely conditions for raceday. The rail comes out +3m for the entire circuit, so it will be no disadvantage to be on-speed. The first race is set to get underway at 1:50pm AEDT. Best Bet: Meod Meod is a three-year-old filly trained by Michael Freedman and looks a very progressive galloper after an eye-catching win first-up. Her one-length win at this same track and distance on November 24 was a phenomenal debut performance after leading throughout and kicking clear to hold on with something left in the tank. She steps immediately up into BM64 company on Thursday afternoon and looks well suited to be doing something similar in this field. The speed map should see this daughter of Exceed And Excel get a relatively uncontested lead, particularly if race rival Boomsong heads to Warwick Farm instead of this 1000m Wyong sprint. Tom Sherry sticks after riding Meod to victory first-up and looks well weighted with the 55.5kg. If she can produce a similar performance here, this girl looks the clear one to beat. Best Bet Race 6 – #10 Meod (5) 3yo Filly | T: Michael Freedman | J: Tom Sherry (55.5kg) $3.40 with Neds Next Best: Frosbie We’ll look to be finding an early return in the first race on the card with the two-start maiden Frosbie. His two performances have been outstanding and he is unfortunate not to have a win on the board, only beaten by a couple of poor barrier draws and luckless runs in transit. His last-start effort at Wyong on November 24 was huge after being forced back in the field from barrier nine, as he got clear late to hit the line strong and only be beaten 1.3 lengths. If he sat any closer in running, we think he would have finished a lot closer. From barrier five, we should see Frosbie ridden to find the one-by-one position before finding the line strongly yet again, but this time the Tracey Bartley-trained gelding can go a few placings better to salute third-up. Next Best Race 1 – #2 Frosbie (5) 3yo Gelding | T: Tracey Bartley | J: Serg Lisnyy (57.5kg) $4 with Bet365 Best Value: Fanagoria We’re very keen on Fanagoria in the first leg of the quaddie at Wyong for Peter and Paul Snowden. This filly brings what looks some of the best form-lines after a luckless first-up performance behind Godolphin filly Jewellery at Canterbury on November 25. She got the perfect trail behind the leader She’s A Bad Girl — a race rival here — but found no clearance when turning for home with leaders falling into her lap and horses on her outside keeping her boxed in. It’s staggering she was only beaten 1.7 lengths on that occasion, and the fact we’re getting an each-way price in this 1000m maiden is simply an oversight from the online bookmakers. There’s not doubt this is a competitive maiden with the likes of Ishani and race favourite Ramones deserving respect, but the price on offer is too good to pass up for Fanagoria. She should lob the perfect position mid-race with Sam Clipperton taking the reins, and this daughter of Russian Revolution can notch up her first career win.
