Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted December 10, 2022 Journalists Share Posted December 10, 2022 Young Lara trainer Brooke Ennis, 34, collected her second $157,875 Group 1 Silver Chief (525m) in four years at The Meadows on Saturday night. But not only did she take home the $100,000 first prize – in the age-restricted, all-male event sponsored by Sportsbet – she quinellaed the race with Jul ’20 Zambora Brockie x Miami Fernando litter brothers Amron Boy and Amron Dan. Ennis won the 2019 Silver Chief with Barooga Brett – owned in similar interests to Amron Boy. And it was an ‘all in the family’ moment as her father-in-law, Gary Ennis , took out the 2010 Silver Chief with Enry Walt. Amron Boy ($2.40F) dubbed “arguably the fastest chaser in the land” by expert form analyst The Watchdog, gave his sibling – and rivals – a galloping lesson with an exhilarating exhibition. He defeated Amron Dan ($30.70) by 4L, with Landyn Bale ($8.10) a further 6L away third. Amazingly, he almost equalled his 29.448sec fastest heat win (by 11.8L), clocking 29.452sec – only 1L off the 29.376sec track record, set by Allen Deed on January 3, 2015. It was his 13th win from 31 starts, and his seventh win from 12 starts over The Meadows 525m sprint trip. His stakes spiralled to $231,175. Amron Boy had been knocking on the door of Group race glory. He was fifth and sixth respectively in the G1 Topgun and G1 Maturity Classic, and runner-up in both the G2 Flying Amy Classic and G3 Silver Bullet. At his previous start, he was gallant in defeat to ‘wonder woman’ Wow She’s Fast in the ‘Sportsbet Showdown’ – a two-dog match race – on Melbourne Cup night. But it will be ‘take two’ at The Meadows next Saturday night when the ‘dynamic duo’ go paw-to-paw in the $1,000,000 to-the-winner The Phoenix (525m). Wow She’s Fast won the inaugural running last year. WATCH: AMRON BOY (B3) obtains ‘bragging rights’ over his brother AMRON DAN (B4) in the G1 Sportsbet Silver Chief.
