Racing heads to Kyneton Racing Club on Thursday afternoon for a competitive eight-race program from 1:30pm AEDT. With rain forecast throughout the week in Melbourne and surrounds, the Soft 6 that the track is currently rated will most likely be a Heavy 8 or worse come the opening event. The rail is set true and, as always, it will be advantageous to be up on speed throughout the meeting.

Best Bet at Kyneton: Champinsky

Returning off a seven-month spell, the Liam Howley-trained Champinsky looks well placed here by an astute stable and is sure to take some holding out in the penultimate leg of the quaddie. The five-year-old mare was a smart maiden winner at Werribee back in April before finishing midfield here over 1212m before heading to the paddock. She draws to gain a perfect run in transit under Jason Maskiell and outside of bad luck she looks a great play in this 0-64. On a day where we expect it to be advantageous up on speed, Champinsky will give us a great sight at nice odds.

Best Bet

Race 7 – Silk #3 Champinsky (1)

5yo Mare | T: Liam Howley | J: Jason Maskiell (59.5kg)

Next Best at Kyneton: Majestic Style

Blake Shinn and Danny O’Brien are set to combine with three-year-old filly Majestic Style over the 1850m on Thursday where she simply looks the best bet of the day. The Vadamos filly settled up on speed at Geelong on November 30 when taking the lead inside the final furlong only to be run down in the shadows of the winning post. She looks ready to win third-up in her career and continues to improve each start. From barrier one at Kyneton, look for Blake Shinn to have the filly taking up the running and as long as she handles the unique track at Kyneton, she is going to take a power of running down. Anything above even money with online bookmakers looks to be an early Christmas present.

Next Best

Race 4 – Silk #11 Majestic Style (1)

3yo Filly | T: Danny O’Brien | J: Blake Shinn (56kg)

Best Value at Kyneton: Heavy Duty

In the second leg of the quaddie we anticipate the Mike Moroney-trained Heavy Duty can bounce back from a poor effort at Mornington on November 17. The four-year-old gelding is a genuine front-runner who makes any race he runs in an entertaining one and we expect him to give us a sight at a price. The son of Manhattan Rain will have his wide barrier offset by his early speed and with Jordan Childs expected to gain an uncontested lead throughout, there is no reason why he cannot have this field chasing 400m out from home. His first-up effort at Geelong three runs back behind Smokin’ Toff is more than good enough to take out a race like this.

Best Value

Race 6 – Silk #7 Heavy Duty (13)

4yo Gelding | T: Mike Moroney | J: Jordan Childs (58.5kg)
