Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted December 14, 2022 Journalists Share Posted December 14, 2022 What Canterbury Races Where Canterbury Park Racecourse – King St, Canterbury NSW 2193 When Friday, December 16, 2022 First Race 6pm AEDT Visit Ladbrokes Racing heads to Canterbury again on Friday night with a very competitive eight-race program set down for decision. The rail continues to move out, this time +6m for the entire circuit, with perfect conditions and a Good 4 track expected for the evening. The first race is scheduled to get us underway at 6pm AEDT as we look to launch into some winners before another massive weekend of racing. Best Bet: Fudai Fudai looks ready to break his maiden status in the first race of the Canterbury card. He is third-up here for the Brad Widdup yard and has been the eye-catcher in both performances, in particular his last-start effort at Newcastle on December 3 when beaten by 0.6 lengths by Blueskin. Fudai missed the start completely on that occasion and arguably could have won the race if he had found a sit anywhere other than the tail of the field. The four-year-old by Shalaa shouldn’t be that far back in this 1500m contest on Friday night, with barrier five looking a winning factor along with Dylan Gibbons’ 2kg claim. Best Bet Race 1 – #4 Fudai (5) 4yo Gelding | T: Brad Widdup | J: Dylan Gibbons (a2)(59kg) $2.70 with Bet365 Next Best: Jewellery We found this three-year-old filly first-up at Canterbury on November 25, and we see no reason to be jumping off her when stepping up in class for this BM64 1100m contest. Jewellery was sublime when winning by 1.3 lengths and looked to have plenty left in the tank for this second-up tilt. She has drawn awkwardly in barrier 15 for Friday night, which does leave us a little concerned that connections may elect to run on Saturday at Randwick instead; however, if she does come here, she must be a bet in what does look a more competitive race than what she faced first-up. She gets the appointment of the world’s best with James McDonald taking the reins, which is a key indicator to us that Jewellery is likely to race at Canterbury. She looks a very progressive filly on the rise. Next Best Race 8 – #6 Jewellery (15) 3yo Filly | T: James Cummings | J: James McDonald (58.5kg) $3 with Palmerbet Next Best Again: African Daisy Our insurance policy if Jewellery is scratched on Friday night comes in the fourth race with James McDonald again and African Daisy. This Annabel Neasham-trained four-year-old has had a month between runs after winning first-up at Scone on November 7, and we’re happy to be siding with her in this BM72 for the fillies and mares. Her win was dominant when circling the field heading for home and kicking clear of her rivals to score by 0.7 lengths, and while that field lacked the depth of what she sees on Friday night, the booking of McDonald and the step up in trip to the 1550m only look like positives. Look for this American Pharoah mare to find a midfield sit before swinging wide turning for home and chasing down the likely leader, Chenin. Next Best Again Race 4 – #3 African Daisy (7) 4yo Mare | T: Annabel Neasham | J: James McDonald (58.5kg) $3.40 with Neds Friday quaddie tips for Canterbury races Canterbury quadrella selections Friday, December 16, 2022 3-4-6 1-3-4-7 1-3-6-8-11 1-6-8-9 Investment: $240 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
