Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted December 15, 2022 Journalists Share Posted December 15, 2022 What Morphettville Races Where Morphettville Racecourse – 79 Morphett Rd, Morphettville SA 5043 When Friday, December 16, 2022 First Race 3:20pm ACDT Visit Ladbrokes Morphettville Racecourse will host an eight-race twilight meeting this Friday afternoon, with the first event jumping at 3:20pm ACDT. The track is currently rated a Good 4 and with good weather and no rain forecast for Thursday and Friday, we should be on a Good track on race day. The rail will be in the +3m position, which should still play fair for all runners for the majority of the program. Best Bet at Morphettville: Midnight Rush Our best bet of the day will come up in the second race over 1100m, where the Richard & Chantelle Jolly-trained Midnight Rush will be looking to go two-from-two to begin his career after a solid win on debut. This three-year-old gelding was heavily backed on debut at Balaklava, where he sat behind the leaders and raced green, before getting the better of the leader over the final 50m. Now that this son of Sooboog rises from 1050 to 1100m, we expect him to be even stronger the further he goes, if his last 100m was anything to go by on debut. Jake Toeroek will stick with this lightly raced gelding, and with more race experience and more training, this guy should be fitter and near his peak on Friday. Best Bet Race 2 – #4 Midnight Rush (7) 3yo Gelding | T: Richard & Chantelle Jolly | J: Jake Toeroek (57.5kg) $5 with Unibet Next Best at Morphettville: Iknowhatyouredoing In the Maiden Plate over 1600m, we will be siding with another of the Richard & Chantelle Jolly-trained runners, Iknowhatyouredoing, who will be trying to break his maiden at career start number three. Last start, this three-year-old gelding didn’t jump very well and was pushed along to stay in contact with the field, before making up a huge amount of ground on the rail around the home bend. He didn’t receive much luck in the straight when he eventually balanced up and let down as he ran into the back of the second and third placegetters that were wobbling around under pressure. From barrier seven, Jake Toeroek will be hoping that this guy can jump with the rest of the field and find a spot midfield, which will save his energy for the end of the race. If all things go to plan and he gets some luck, this guy should be rattling down the outside in the concluding stages of the 1600m. Next Best Race 4 – #9 Iknowhatyouredoing (7) 3yo Gelding | T: Richard & Chantelle Jolly | J: Jake Toeroek (56.5kg) $3.20 with Neds Best Value at Morphettville: Magic Phantom The final race of the day looks to be a very nice race for the Jon O’Connor-trained Magic Phantom who is dropping back in grade from a Benchmark 68 last start to a Benchmark 58 this Friday. This six-year-old gelding won three in a row throughout October, before running seventh at both of his last two starts. The key factor for this guy could be Britney Wong jumping back aboard, after missing the last two rides, as she rode him to those back-to-back-to-back wins last month. With the aid of Wong’s 3kg claim, this son of Magic Albert will carry 60.5kg, which should give him every chance to box seat behind the leaders, get a very economical run, and go very close at an each-way price with online bookmakers.
