Practical Joke Colt Upsets Los Al Futurity

Practical Move (c, 2, Practical Joke–Ack Naughty, by Afleet Alex), third in the GIII Bob Hope S. last time out Nov. 20, pulled off a 10-1 upset in Saturday's GII Los Alamitos Futurity. Carmel Road (Quality Road) was second; Fort Bragg (Tapit) was third. Heavily favored Arabian Lion (Justify) trailed the field home in fifth.

Practical Move sat a stalking trip in third and moved up a spot into second on the far turn. He shot through an opening along the inside at the quarter pole and kicked past Carmel Road to score by 2 1/2 lengths. The final time for 1 1/16 miles was 1:41.65.

Practical Move's lone prior victory came via disqualification going a mile at Santa Anita Oct. 10.
