Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted September 2, 2018 Journalists Share Posted September 2, 2018 By Daithi Harvey With Osarus staging their Yearling Sale this week in La Teste, France, a high profile graduate from last year’s auction is being considered for a Group 1 mission. Co-owners Middleham Park Racing are considering supplementing their unbeaten juvenile Boitron (Fr) (Le Havre {Ire}) for the G1 Goffs Vincent O’Brien National S. at The Curragh Sept. 16. The Richard Hannon trained colt, a €45,000 yearling purchase by Mandore Agency and Sylvain Vidal at Osarus last September, made it three out of three when winning the Listed Denford S. at Newbury Aug. 18 under Silvestre De Sousa and connections are now keen to step Boitron up in class. “Plan A at the minute is to go for the National Stakes at the Curragh, a race Toormore won for us in 2013,” said Tim Palin of Middleham Park, who race Boitron in partnership with Gerard Augustin-Normand. “We’ve had a good chat and have spoken to Silvestre [De Sousa]. He thinks seven [furlongs] is spot on just for now. He’s not actually entered in the race. It would mean supplementing on the Tuesday for €35,000 to go in.” Boitron has won two of his three starts over seven furlongs, looking strong at the finish but Palin is keen to keep him at that trip for the time being. “At the minute, looking at the horse and what his requirements are, we just think seven furlongs on good, good to soft at the minute is him playing at home. Plan B is the Dewhurst. We only want to run him one more time so if he wasn’t quite right or the National Stakes wasn’t the right race, we’d wait for the Dewhurst,” he added.
