Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted December 25, 2022 Journalists Share Posted December 25, 2022 What Boxing Day Races Where Sandown Racecourse – 591-659 Princes Hwy, Springvale VIC 3171 When Monday, December 26, 2022 First Race 1:15pm AEDT Visit Ladbrokes The traditional Boxing Day meeting in Victoria comes out of Sandown this year, where the Listed Lord Stakes and Listed Christmas Stakes take top billing on an eight-race program. With a perfect summer’s day forecast and the rail out 3m the entire circuit, there should be no excuses for fancied runners as we should be racing on a Good 3 come races two or three. We kick off public holiday racing at 1:15pm AEDT. LORD STAKES TOP TIP: Life Lessons The Listed Lord Stakes (1700m) is the first of the Stakes races on Monday and despite being a $3.90 chance with online bookmakers, Life Lessons from the Peter Moody barn looks hard to go past. The four-year-old mare gains a 6kg weight advantage over odds-on favourite Nugget and from barrier one, with Jamie Kah on board and 54kg on her back, it is hard to ignore her at the price. She obviously lacks the runs on the board compared to her rivals, but with three wins in succession to her name and on the minimum weight, we’re happy to side with her. From the pole, look for Kah to take a sit off Black Sail and Nugget and when the gap comes, we expect Life Lessons to sprint nicely and bring up a fourth win in succession. Lord Stakes Race 4 – #7 Lie Lessons (1) 4yo Mare | T: Peter Moody | J: Jamie Kah (54kg) $3.90 with Ladbrokes CHRISTMAS STAKES TOP TIP: Jigsaw Having returned in fine fiddle this campaign, the Cindy Alderson-trained Jigsaw looks the one they have to gun down in the Listed Christmas Stakes (1100m). Having been a smart winner in the Listed Doveton Stakes (1000m) at Caulfield on November 26, the four-year-old gelding comes to this in arguably career best form. The son of Manhattan Rain boasts a win over key market rival Rose Quartz and with $2.60 favourite Andermatt set to have his first going the “Melbourne way”, we are happy to side with Jigsaw who will be up on speed throughout. From barrier two, Daniel Moor should have no issue in find the rail and leading this field throughout. In a field where most of his rivals will want to take a sit off the speed, look for Jigsaw to have them chasing a long way out and ultimately proving too hard to gun down. Christmas Stakes Race 7 – #2 Jigsaw (2) 4yo Gelding | T: Cindy Alderson | J: Daniel Moor (55kg) $3.70 with Neds SANDOWN BEST BET: Savannah Cloud Our best bet of the day comes up in the second leg of the quaddie when the Phillip Stokes-trained Savannah Cloud pushes to bring up a fourth win in succession. The five-year-old gelding is as honest a runner you could hop for, missing the top three on just three occasions in his 20 starts. He was a smart winner at this track and trip last time out in a similar field to this and despite rising 2.5kg, looks to have a fair bit on his rivals. From barrier four, look for Madison Lloyd to have him lobbed in the one-one throughout and with just 59kg on is back following Lloyd’s claim, Savannah Cloud should just prove too good for his rivals. Best Bet Race 6 – #2 Savannah Cloud (4) 5yo Gelding | T: Phillip Stokes | J: Madison Lloyd (a2) (61kg) $3.10 with Bet365 Monday quaddie tips for Sandown races Sandown quadrella selections Monday, December 26, 2022 1-8 2-5 2-3-8 1-6-11-14-15 Investment: $60 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
