Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted September 2, 2018 Journalists Share Posted September 2, 2018 By Daithi Harvey The Clive Cox trained Harry Angel (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}) has been a notable absentee from the top mid-summer sprints but the trainer reports the Godolphin owned 4-year-old ready to start back in the G1 32Red Sprint Cup at Haydock on Saturday. The dual Group 1 winner had his season derailed when his hind leg got caught in the stalls during the start of the G1 Diamond Jubilee S. at Royal Ascot forcing him to miss his defense of his G1 Darley July Cup. “He was bruised after Ascot, more than we realised at the time. But he is back now, and I couldn’t be happier with him,” Cox said. Harry Angel won the 2017 Sprint Cup by four lengths and he began 2018 in fine shape when winning the G2 Duke Of York Clipper Logistics S. at York in May before his Royal Ascot mishap and Cox is hoping he can resume that progress on Saturday. “He has a high level of form at Haydock. He loves the place. He broke the course record there when he won the [G2] Sandy Lane Stakes and he won last year’s Sprint Cup as well. Because he was forced to miss the July Cup, he comes to Saturday’s race a fresh horse. He’s back in a good frame of mind, and I’m very happy with him,” he added.
