Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted December 29, 2022 Journalists Share Posted December 29, 2022 What Moonee Valley Races Where Moonee Valley Racing Club – 2 Feehan Ave, Moonee Ponds VIC 3039 When Saturday, December 31, 2022 First Race 12:35pm AEDT Visit Ladbrokes The traditional New Year’s Eve meeting at Moonee Valley is set to greet punters on Saturday afternoon where a competitive eight-race program is set down for decision. With perfect conditions forecast in the lead up to the weekend and then again on raceday, we expect to be racing on a Good 4 early on, before an upgrade to a Good 3. We kick off racing at 12:35pm AEDT, whilst the rail comes out 2m the entire circuit. Best Bet at Moonee Valley: Kettle Hill Our best bet of the day comes up in the opening leg of the quaddie when the Ciaron Maher & David Eustace-trained Kettle Hill steps out after an impressive Australian debut. Having been pointed out in The Follow Files after his local debut on December 10, it is hard to knock his winning chances on Saturday as he steps out to 1600m. The five-year-old Gleneagles gelding has two wins and three minor placings from seven starts at the trip and with a firm ground expected, he will take some holding out. He was simply unlucky when finishing 1.5 lengths off subsequent winner Savannah Cloud and with the form being franked and even luck on Saturday, he should simply be winning this. Kettle Hill looks better than BM84 grade and with just 55.5kg on his back, we expect the import to be far too good for his rivals in this. Best Bet Race 6 – #10 Kettle Hill (8) 5yo Gelding | T: Ciaron Maher & David Eustace | J: Ethan Brown (55.5kg) $2.70 with Bet365 Next Best at Moonee Valley: Quraysha The Ciaron Maher & David Eustace-trained Quraysha is certainly a mare on the way up and based on her last start 3.25 length victory at the Moonee Valley 1200m, she looks a great bet as she returns to the track and trip. The four-year-old mare managed to stalk the speed perfectly on December 2 and once asked for an effort on the home turn, she was quick to put the race away in a couple of strides. Despite being four weeks between runs, the I Am Invincible mare meets a field that is no harder and following Matthew Cartwright’s 1.5kg claim, she goes up just half-a-kilo for this assignment. From barrier 12, look for Cartwright to lob Quraysha in the one-one once again and from there, she should prove a class above. The $3.50 with online bookmakers looks to be a perfect way to end 2022. Next Best Race 9 – #2 Quraysha (12) 4yo Mare | T: Ciaron Maher & David Eustace | J: Matthew Cartwright (a1.5) (61kg) $3.50 with Palmerbet Best Value at Moonee Valley: Fission We will be looking to make our presence known throughout the quaddie legs and coming off a narrow defeat over 1000m at The Valley, Fission looks a great value play. The Robbie Griffiths & Mathew de Kock-trained gelding bumped into the smart Rich Fortune las time out and considering he drops 1kg for Saturday’s assignment, he looks perfectly placed. With speed drawn outside of him, Fission looks set to gain a perfect cart across the field and Joe Bowditch should be able to lob him in the one-one throughout. With a genuinely run 1200m event expect, we expect Fission to appreciate the genuine tempo and with a smart turn of foot approaching the turn, he looks a great play in the penultimate race of the day. Best Value Race 8 – #2 Fission (9) 3yo Gelding | T: Robbie Griffiths & Mathew de Kock | J: Joe Bowditch (58kg) $8.50 with Betfair Saturday quaddie tips for Moonee Valley Moonee Valley quadrella selections Saturday, December 31, 2022 6-10 1-2-14 1-2-3-8-10 2-3 Investment: $60 for 100% Latest horse racing tips View the full article
