Gunned to the early lead, SHESTERKIN (Violence–Freedom Star, by Street Cry {Ire}) hugged the rail with a quartet of challengers to his outside through an opening quarter in :22.54. Still well-rated with plenty of pressure around him, the 3-1 shot dueled inside of Goodlookinrags (Union Rags) before taking command into the far turn. With a length in hand past the quarter pole, Shesterkin held off a bumpy inside rally from Case (Sky Mesa), dispatched that rival with a sixteenth to run, and went on for the clear win. Case held on for second. The 2-year-old colts covered seven furlongs in a final time of 1:24.18. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0.
