Visit Ladbrokes

We head to the Cranbourne Turf Club this Friday evening as an eight-race program is set down for decision to help kick off the first weekend of the new year. We look set to be racing on a Good 4 throughout the card, with the slight potential of an upgrade to a Good 3. The rail returns to true position for this meeting, whilst the action is set to get underway at 6:15pm AEDT.

Best Bet at Cranbourne: Riverina Cyclone

Our best bet of the day comes up in the second leg of the quaddie where we are happy to side with the Matt Laurie-trained Riverina Cyclone. We were with the five-year-old mare where she struggled in the rise in class at Moonee Valley last time out in BM70 grade but having strung together a couple of impressive wins before that, she looks the goods on Friday. She broke her maiden here at Cranbourne last campaign and on the firmer going, she tends to grow another leg. Look for Ethan Brown to have her settle midfield with cover from barrier eight and when approaching the home turn, she should be building through the gears and ultimately proving too hard to hold out.

Best Bet

Race 6 – Silks#5 Riverina Cyclone (8)

4yo Mare | T: Matt Laurie | J: Ethan Brown (58.5kg)

$3.00 with Neds

Next Best at Cranbourne: Colombe D’or

With a bit of luck we are playing with the bookmakers money heading into the last race and we can truckload the Ciaron Maher & David Eustace-trained Colombe D’or. The four-year-old mare was nothing short of impressive on debut at Geelong back on June 5, when giving her rivals a start and a beating on a Heavy 8. That race has proven to be a strong form reference with four horses coming out and winning since. On the day she was awkward out of the barriers, but when asked for an effort upon straightening, she was simply breathtaking. In a 1400m event that is expected to be run at a good clip, the race looks perfectly set up for Colombe D’or to settle at the rear under Ethan Brown, build through her gears and blouse her rivals once again.

Next Best

Race 8 – silks#3 Colombe D’or (9)

4yo Mare | T: Ciaron Maher & David Eustace | J: Ethan Brown (59.5kg)

$2.60 with Unibet

Best Value at Cranbourne: Nanshe

The James Cummings-trained Nanshe did enough on debut at Canterbury on December 9 to suggest she might be worth following. The three-year-old filly had enough excuses in running to forgive her midfield effort and we anticipate coming down to Melbourne might be the benefit she needs. Looks for Zac Spain to have her settled closer to the speed this time out from barrier 11 and with enough speed in the race, if Spain can lob in the one-one, the race might just be suited for Nanshe to pounce on some potentially vulnerable leaders.

Best Value

Race 2 – Silks#7 Nanshe (11)

3yo Filly | T: James Cummings | J: Zac Spain (56kg)

$23.00 with Unibet
