Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted January 5, 2023 Journalists Share Posted January 5, 2023 Chrysaor will look to cement his spot in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic with a win in the Gold Nugget at the Gold Coast on Saturday. Picture: Trackside Photography. This Saturday’s The Wave Raceday at Gold Coast Turf Club will be the last chance to move up the Order Of Entry for some of the Magic Millions 2YO Classic and Magic Millions 3YO Guineas hopefuls, with the 2023 Magic Millions meeting set to be run on Saturday, January 14. The Magic Millions Raceday is the richest sales-based incentive raceday in Australia, with eight of the 10 races worth $1 million or more and two races worth $500,000. The two feature events on Magic Millions Raceday are the 2YO Classic and the 3YO Guineas, both worth $2 million. Both fields are decided by an Order Of Entry (OOE) which is based on prize money won throughout their career. The 2YO Classic has a field limit of 16 plus five emergencies and the 3YO Guineas has a field limit of 15 plus five emergencies. Below we have listed the seven horses that will run on Saturday, with the biggest chance to force their way into either of the feature fields on Magic Millions Raceday, along with their odds courtesy of online bookmakers. Magic Millions 2YO Classic – $2,000,000 Excel D’or @$21 (17th in OOE $59,750) Excel D’or will run in the Gold Pearl this Saturday and the only way she can assure herself of a spot in the 2YO Classic is with victory, however, she may just sneak in if she finishes second and the runners below her don’t finish in the top three in their respective races. Chrysaor @$26 (18th in OOE $58,700) Chrysaor sits just behind Excel D’or in the Order Of Entry, however, he will race in the Gold Nugget, which is the race before the Gold Pearl at the Gold Coast on Saturday. This colt will need to win on Saturday to force his way into the 2YO Classic, but he may sneak into the field by finishing second, if the filly above don’t finish in the top three. She’s A Rogue @$34 (22nd in OOE $42,400) She’s A Rogue will meet the above-mentioned filly in the Gold Pearl, where she will have to win the race to confirm her place in the final 2YO Classic field. Quasimoto @$26 (23rd in OOE $40,075) Quasimoto will clash with Chrysaor in the Gold Nugget for the colts and he will have a similar task to She’s A Rogue, with this colt having to win the race to ensure his place in the final Magic Millions 2YO Classic field. Magic Millions 3YO Guineas – $2,000,000 Spiritualised @$51 (16th in OOE $179,050) Spiritualised looks to have the best chance to break into the 3YO Guineas final field, as he sits one place outside the top 15, however, he would still need to finish in the placings to ensure a position in the final field. Mishani Spartan @$201 (20th in OOE $134,921) Mishani Spartan will be taking on the toughest field of the day on Saturday, as he takes on The Wave for the three and four-year-olds. This three-year-old gelding will have to win The Wave this weekend to force his way into the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas. Green Shadows @$26 (21st in OOE $134,840) Green Shadows is the only horse on this list that won’t be running at the Gold Coast on Saturday, with Gerald Ryan & Streling Alexiou electing to keep this colt in Sydney to run in a Benchmark 72 Handicap worth $150,000. The only way he can get into the Guineas field would be with a win on Saturday. More horse racing news View the full article
