Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted January 11, 2023 Journalists Posted January 11, 2023 Recently retired jockey Davy Russell has returned from retirement to fill in for the injured Jack Kennedy for trainer Gordon Elliott. Russell's first rides will be at Fairyhouse on Saturday. Kennedy sustained a broken leg in a fall earlier this month. “After meeting with Gordon today, I have decided to come out of retirement and ride for the short period while Jack is on the sidelines,” Russell, who rode Tiger Roll (Ire) (Authorized {Ire}) to victory in two G3 Grand Nationals, said in a statement. “It's only been a matter of weeks since I retired, and I actually rode more out this morning than I have in many years. We are a close team in Cullentra and after what happened last weekend, I want to help the team through a difficult few weeks. The plan is to resume riding in Fairyhouse on Saturday and Punchestown on Sunday.” The post Russell Returns From Retirement To Deputise For Injured Kennedy appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
