Form expert Dale Code has picked out a selection of runs from around Victoria that have caught the eye over the past fortnight.

#1 ASTON KALKARA (Box 5)
Breeding:
Aug ’20 Aston Kimetto x Aston Upton
Trainer: Dustin Drew, Dennington
Record: 14 starts 4-5-2

Dale says: After a tardy beginning, Aston Kalkara found himself near the tail of the field going into the first turn.

Spotting the leader a big start he looked a place chance at best, but he produced a powerful finishing burst and picked up the leader before racing away to an eye-catching win.

#2 AUSSIE BUILT (Box 4)
Breeding:
Oct ’18 Aussie Infrared x Sachi
Trainer: Ebony Deglaitis, Moolap
Record: 96 starts 17-10-13

Dale says: Aussie Built was a heavily supported favourite in his 96th race start, but he had punters’ hearts in their mouths when he found trouble at a vital stage of the race.

However, the popular elect regained his balance, hooked to the outside and sprouted wings to record an impressive win.

#3 ZAMBORA CHARLIE (Box 4)
Breeding:
Dec ’19 Zambora Brockie x Ultra Blue
Trainer: Aimee Drew, Dennington
Record: 26 starts 8-1-4

Dale says: After a smart beginning, Zambora Charlie was squeezed out to the rear of the field and all chances of winning appeared gone.

However, combining a fierce will to win with an elite burst of speed, he somehow managed to work his way back into the race and rattled home to record a brilliant last-to-first win.
