Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted January 19, 2023 Journalists Share Posted January 19, 2023 What Sha Tin Races Where Sha Tin Racecourse – Tai Po Rd, Sha Tin District, Hong Kong When Saturday, January 21, 2023 First Race 12:15pm HKT (3:15pm AEDT) Visit Ladbrokes We have Hong Kong racing on Saturday afternoon coming out of Sha Tin Racecourse with a competitive 10-race program to dissect. We should be in for picture-perfect conditions with plenty of sunshine expected for race-day and the rail moving out to the B course position. There’s a nice mix of turf and all-weather racing to get us through the afternoon before next Sunday’s highly anticipated Stewards Cup. The first race is scheduled to get underway at 12:15pm HKT (3:15pm AEDT). Best Bet: Beauty Eternal That’s right, you’re seeing Beauty Eternal again as our best bet — now we just need him to make it to the barriers. He’s had two mishaps heading to the stalls this preparation and we haven’t seen him race since November 6. We’ve reference the fact he was luckless on that occasion and regardless of where he went next, we want to be with this son of Starspangledbanner. He comes here now after trialling again on January 10 on the all-weather surface and looks to be going just as well, so we see now issues putting him on top once again. Zac Purton and John Size look to combine again with Beauty Eternal and we think he’s on another level compared to most of his opposition on Sunday afternoon. Barrier 12 shouldn’t be a problem either as Purton will just be looking to find cover somewhere throughout the contest before showing his Group-level quality turning for home. Best Bet Race 10 – #4 Beauty Eternal (12) 4yo Gelding | T: John Size | J: Zac Purton (54.5kg) Bet with Palmerbet Next Best: Forerunner Forerunner was excellent on debut and we think he can make it back-to-back wins in the eighth race on the Sha Tin program. He looked in trouble turning for home last start on December 24 before Hugh Bowman weaved some magic, finding an inside passage to salute by 1.3 lengths going away from his rivals. The four-year-old gets a 4kg penalty from that win and now finds himself with 61kg; however, we feel he’s deserving of the weight based on the dominance of the win, along with second horse — Fast Buck — winning last Sunday. Bowman sticks and will look to be a little more positive with a better barrier on Sunday against what looks like tougher opposition. Benno Yung looks to have this son of Almanzor flying and we’re happy to be with him. Next Best Race 8 – #2 Forerunner (4) 4yo Gelding | T: Benno Yung | J: Hugh Bowman (61kg) Bet with Bet365 Next Best Again: Prince Of Porty The first leg of the quaddie is a competitive contest, and we’re siding with the David Hall-trained Prince Of Porty. He’s first-up with plenty of barrier trials under his belt and will be looking to debut a winner with Zac Purton on board. This gelding by Wandjina has had five barrier trials with the latest being a winning effort down the Sha Tin 1000m with Purton aboard on that occasion, taking down race rival Forte in the process. Both trialled well and Forte may have a fitness edge on Prince Of Porty; however, we feel he’s a very progressive type moving forward and should be right in this first up assignment. He’ll be somewhere midfield with cover throughout from barrier six, and if his trials translate to the track, Prince Of Porty will be hard to beat. Next Best Again Race 7 – #9 Prince Of Porty 4yo Gelding | T: David Hall | J: Zac Purton (58kg) Bet with Ladbrokes Best Value: All For St Paul’s The third race at Sha Tin is a Class 2 contest over the 1600m where we’ve elected to go with the consistent galloper All For St Paul’s. This now six-year-old has been going very well this preparation with a win first-up at the mile before a failure on the all-weather surface. They elected to get back to his favoured track and distance at the Sha Tin mile with two strong performances behind classy four-year-old series types Packing Treadmill and Keefy. He now finds a Class 2 with a real lack of speed, so despite drawing wide in the small field, we think Matthew Poon should get a relatively uncontested lead before kicking clear of his rivals. We’re hoping this is one that slides under the radar of online bookmakers and we get a decent price. Best Value Race 3 – #3 All For St Paul’s (7) 6yo Gelding | T: Frankie Lor | J: Matthew Poon (a1)(58kg) Bet with PlayUp Hong Kong quaddie tips for Sha Tin races Sha Tin quadrella selections Saturday, January 21, 2022 1-2-9 2-3-4-10-11 2-4-8-10-11 4-7-11 Investment: $225 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
