Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted January 22, 2023 Journalists Share Posted January 22, 2023 What Moe Races Where Moe Racing Club – Waterloo Rd, Moe VIC 3825 When Tuesday, January 24, 2023 First Race 1:30pm AEDT Visit Ladbrokes We head to Moe Racing Club this Tuesday for a competitive eight-race program kicking off at 1:30pm local time. The track is currently rated a Soft 5, but with rain forecast on Monday and Tuesday, we expect to stay in the Soft range for the majority of the afternoon. The rail will be in +5m position for the entire circuit, while racing gets underway at 1:30pm AEDT. Best Bet at Moe: Chargenlikeapluma Robbie Griffiths & Mathew de Kock’s eight-start maiden, Chargenlikeapluma, will return from a two-month spell on Tuesday at Moe in a Maiden Plate over 1114m. This son of Magnus has some good form lines from last preparation, including a one-length defeat to Lord Stakes runner-up Life Lessons. This four-year-old gelding finished in the top three at all four of his starts last campaign at Moe, Traralgon and Ballarat over 1100m and 1200m, where he sat outside or just behind the leaders at all four starts. On Tuesday, Carleen Hefel will take the ride for the fifth-straight start, and from barrier four we expect Hefel to push forward and sit outside the leader. If this gelding can jump quickly and sit on pace without doing too much work, he will look to kick clear on the home bend and break his maiden first-up. Best Bet Race 3 – #1 Chargenlikapluma (4) 4yo Gelding | T: Robbie Griffiths & Mathew de Kock | J: Carleen Hefel (59.5kg) $4.40 with Bet365 Next Best at Moe: Triumphant Miss In the very next race we will siding with another maiden, this time from the Peter Moody yard, with Triumphant Miss coming through a debut start at Cranbourne over 1400m on January 6 where she ran home nicely to finish fourth. This three-year-old filly was travelling well into the race on the home turn before the runner inside her pushed her wide on the turn, resulting in her yielding ground on the leaders and ultimately ending her chances of winning the race. Now that she steps up to 1623m, rising from the 1400m on debut, we should see this girl settle and then find the outside to finish strongly down the outside. This daughter of Almazor will relish the extra 200m, as she looked like she was only just getting warm on debut. Thomas Stockdale will hope Triumphant Miss jumps as well as she did on debut and hold a prominent position near the speed so that when the leaders round the bend she doesn’t have too much ground to make up in the final 300m. Next Best Race 4 – #11 Triumphant Miss (7) 3yo Filly | T: Peter Moody | J: Thomas Stockdale (56kg) $2.85 with Neds Best Value at Moe: St Malo The Danny O’Brien-trained St Malo will be facing the starter for the second time in her short career, after running fourth on debut at Benalla over 1106m. This daughter of Frosted settled at the rear of the field on that day, before finding the outside on the home bend and running home very nicely to finish fourth. On Tuesday, this filly has drawn the very outside barrier, which should see her settle at the back of the field once again. With a few speed influences also drawing outside barriers, we are hoping to see a good tempo up front. Fred Kersley should look to make his move at the 500m mark and head to the outside and let this girl work through her gears, giving her every chance to pick up the leaders in the final 100m.
