Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted January 26, 2023 Journalists Share Posted January 26, 2023 What Sunshine Coast Cup Day Where Sunshine Coast Turf Club – 170 Pierce Ave, Caloundra QLD 4551 When Saturday, January 28, 2023 First Race 1:03pm AEST Visit Ladbrokes The Sunshine Coast Turf Club will host its annual Sunshine Coast Cup Day this Saturday, with the Listed $150,000 Sunshine Coast Cup headlining the very competitive eight-race program. The track is currently rated a Good 4 and with good weather forecast for the Sunshine Coast area, we expect to be racing on a fair surface come race day. The rail will go back into the True position for the entire circuit. The first race on Sunshine Coast Cup Day will jump at 1:03pm AEST. Sunshine Coast Cup Tip – Chaillot In the feature event of the day, we will be siding with the ex-Victorian galloper, Chaillot, who has made the switch from the Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr yard to the Steven O’Dea & Matthew Hoysted training partnership and now resides at Eagle Farm. This six-year-old mare has raced in Listed or Group company at 14 of her 16 career starts, recording five wins and one placings at those 16 starts. This daughter of Testa Rossa hasn’t won a race since her first-up victory in the Listed Testa Rossa Stakes back in September of 2021, so she is definitely overdue for a win and the change of scenery may just be what she needed. With an outstanding first-up record of four wins from six starts, there is no worry at all about her coming into the $150,000 Sunshine Coast fresh will be a risk. From barrier six, Ben Thompson should drop this girl out the back and let her get into a rhythm, and then unleash her down the outside with that blistering turn of foot. Sunshine Coast Cup Race 8 – #2 Chaillot (12) 6yo Mare | T: Steven O’Dea & Matthew Hoysted | J: Ben Thompson (57kg) $4.40 with Ladbrokes Best Bet at Sunshine Coast – Fastconi We will have to wait until the back end of the program for our best bets on Saturday, with our best bet, Fastconi, coming up in the very last race of the day. The Chris Waller-trained gelding was very impressive first-up last start at Doomben, when he settled in the back half of the field, before getting to the outside and running home powerfully to run away with an easy 1.5 length victory over 1200m. After a confidence building win at his most recent start, this son of Nicconi will be looking to build off of that win and string a couple of wins together. James Orman will take the ride again, and from barrier one he should get the run of the race. If he can get this gelding off the fence and find clear air, he should be winning again on Saturday. Best Bet Race 9 – #9 Fastconi (1) 5yo Gelding | T: Chris Waller | J: James Orman (56kg) $2.20 with Ladbrokes Next Best at Sunshine Coast – Mission Of Love In the second leg of the quaddie, the John Symons & Sheila Laxon-trained Mission Love looks to be a very good bet after breaking her maiden last start at Doomben over 1350m on January 11. This daughter of The Mission has been good this preparation, finishing inside the top three at two of her three starts, with the only failure coming at this track on December 23 where she missed the start and never really got into the race. There looks to be a good amount of speed in this race, which we expect will set it up for this three-year-old filly who will settle towards the rear of the field. With the aid of Jaden Lloyd’s 1.5kg claim and barrier two, this girl won’t have to spend many petrol tickets to get into a good position and with the weight relief, she gets into the race very well. Lloyd will look to get moving around the home turn and allow this filly to hit top speed with 300m to go and look to reel in the leaders with her booming finish in the final 100m. Next Best Race 7 – #11 Mission Of Love (2) 3yo Filly | T: John Symons & Sheila Laxon | J: Jaden Lloyd (a1.5) (54kg) $5.50 with Bet365 Best Value at Sunshine Coast – Rose Of Duporth Stuart Kendrick will have his four-year-old mare Rose Of Duporth engaged in the third race of the day over 1600m where she will be looking to repeat the dose from her last start win at the same track and distance on January 8. This daughter of Duporth has been a great money spinner for connections, finishing in the placings at 15 of her 25 starts throughout her career, but she has struggled to win consistently. However, after her last start win it looks as though she is ready to continue her winning ways and put a few together. With Ben Thompson sticking and drawing barrier four, this girl should get all the favours in the running and settle just behind the speed. Best Value Race 3 – #6 Rose Of Duporth (4) 4yo Mare | T: Stuart Kendrick | J: Ben Thompson (54kg) $13 with Neds Saturday quaddie picks for Sunshine Coast Cup Day Sunshine Coast quadrella selections Saturday, January 28, 2023 4-6 2-3-11 1-2-5-7 5-9-13 Investment: $72 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
