Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted February 2, 2023 Journalists Share Posted February 2, 2023 What Morphettville Parks Races Where Morphettville Racecourse – 79 Morphett Rd, Morphettville SA 5043 When Saturday, February 4, 2023 First Race 12:17pm ACDT Visit Ladbrokes For the first time this year, racing is scheduled for the Parks track at Morphettville on a Saturday afternoon. Perfect conditions are set to greet punters and competitors on the weekend, and we expect to be racing on a Good 4 throughout the card. The rail sticks to the true position throughout the circuit, and the first of nine races will get us underway at 12:17pm ACDT. Best Bet at Morphettville: Secret War Patience will be key on Saturday, as our best bet Secret War does not hit the track until the final race of the day. The seven-year-old gelding was a dominant all-the-way winner at Gawler on January 21 when putting five-lengths on his rivals early on and despite tiring inside the final 100m, never looked like getting beaten. Ellis Wong sticks on board and despite rising 4kg in the weight’s Secret War simply looks perfectly placed. Barrier 11 is offset by the early speed this son of Atomic possesses and in a race here he should gain an uncontested lead throughout. He has run his rivals off their feet at his last two starts and with a similar approach on Saturday, it should be more than enough for Secret War to bring up a third straight win under the urgings of the in-form Ellis Wong. Best Bet Race 9 – #1 Secret War (11) 7yo Gelding | T: Gary & Nichole Searle & Brianna Callanan | J: Ellis Wong (a3) (61kg) $4 with Unibet Next Best at Morphettville: Yulong Patrol The Andrew Bobbin-trained Yulong Patrol is clearly the best horse in the BM68 event over 1550m and we are hoping he can lug 6-.5kg to victory in the second leg of the quaddie. The seven-year-old gelding was well held at Warrnambool last time out in a tougher race than this and despite finishing fourth, beaten just over a length, that form stands out in a race like this. He was a dominant winner in similar company on the course proper here at Morphettville the star prior when giving his rivals a start and a beating. From barrier four, we anticipate Jacob Opperman will have this bloke positioned in a handy position throughout and as long as he can handle the weight, Yulong Patrol looks a class above his rivals in this. Next Best Race 7 – #1 Yulong Patrol (4) 7yo Gelding | T: Andrew Bobbin | J: Jacob Opperman (a2) (62.5kg) $2.70 with Neds Best Value at Morphettville: Zoist The Tony & Calvin McEvoy-trained Zoist was quite disappointing first-up at Sandown on January 7, but as he returns to the Parks track, we’re willing to forgive him and side with him at a generous price with online bookmakers. The five-year-old gelding has won both of his starts at the Morphettville Parks 1400m and with a bit of luck, he can continue on his winning ways on Saturday. Barend Vorster hops on board which is an added bonus too, having guided this son of Zoustar to victory on five occasions from just eight rides. He will be one of the backmarkers upon settling, but with the likes of Heir Of Tavistock, Black Bolt and race favourite Saskatoon set to make this a genuinely run event, the race looks perfectly set up for Zoist to flash home down the centre of the track and salute at a nice price. Best Value Race 5 – #1 Zoist (4) 5yo Gelding | T: Tony & Calvin McEvoy | J: Barend Vorster (60kg) $8 with Palmerbet Saturday quaddie tips for Morphettville Morphettville quadrella selections Saturday, February 4, 2023 3-4-5-6 1-5-7 1-2-4-5 1-10 Investment: $96 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
