(Photo by Scott Barbour/Racing Photos)Jamie Kah and Matthew Williams have combined with Wrote To Ataki in the Group 3 Geoffrey Bellmaine Stakes at Sandown, as the four-year-old mare led every step of the 1300m. As the day went on Wrote To Ataki shortened as each race went by, jumping as a $3.10 favourite with online bookmakers, as the punters were quick to work out that the soft Sandown Hillside track was favouring leaders and on-speed runners. This daughter of Wrote has now recorded back-to-back wins in town and her first black type victory, after Kah piloted her to success at Flemington in a Benchmark 70 Handicap on New Year’s Day. Wrote To Ataki has gone from winning her maiden at Warrnambool to winning a Group 3 at Sandown, all within the last 12 months. 2023 Geoffrey Bellmaine Stakes Replay – Wrote To Ataki Matthew Williams spoke post-race about the surreal progression of his mare in her short 10-race career. “It is a fair transition she’s made,” Williams said. “You can sometimes get horses that can take that step and she’s got a bit of confidence out of winning. “She’s always had ability and we always thought it was there, but I guess to be thinking we would be winning a Group 3 mares race with her… we didn’t think that six months ago, but we’re rapt to have it now. “Six months ago I wouldn’t have thought we would lead on this horse and win, but we have, so a big pat on the back to Jamie (Kah) there.” Jamie Kah has now ridden this mare at her last two starts in town, recording very nice wins both times and she is starting to develop a nice affiliation with her. “I love this girl because she is so tough and has a lot of heart,” Kah said. “She probably overdid it a touch in front and the last 100 (metres) she was tiring, but she was never gonna let that other horse get past her, she was very, very tough. “I would have liked her to relax a touch more, but all she can do is win and she’s done that really well.” More horse racing news View the full article
