Blake Shinn and David Pfieffer have combined with Glint Of Silver to cause a boilover in the Group 2 Autumn Stakes, after finishing as a runner-up in a Class 1 Handicap at Kembla Grange last start.

This three-year-old son of Rubick has gone to another level this preparation, beginning his campaign by breaking his maiden first-up in a Canterbury Maiden three starts back, to now winning a Group 2 at Sandown.

After jumping as an $11 outsider with online bookmakers, Glint Of Silver sat outside the leader and just kept finding down the straight to hold on and beat the fast finishing and luckless Amenable and The Fortune Teller.

The race favourites, Pericles and Calico Jack, were somewhat disappointing which will leave some owners and punters scratching their heads.

David Pfieffer spoke post-race about his gelding’s maiden Group 2 victory of his career.

“We had him entered in quite a few places and then we sorta seen these noms were gonna get a bit light on and by the time we got to acceptance time we saw quite a few were first-up,” Pfieffer said.

“We are deep into our preparation and we had good fitness underneath and it’s pretty much how the instructions followed through, to ride him like the fittest horse in the race and it obviously worked.

“This horse doesn’t know how to lay down and he has always shown lots of promise at home, and he’s had a few luckless runs, but today makes it worth it.”

When questioned about whether Glint Of Silver can get out over 1600m and push onto a Australian Guineas, Pfieffer said that “he would love to push on and try him over the mile.”

After a great front-running ride and getting everything out of the winner, Blake Shinn spoke post-race about his win on Glint Of Silver.

“Look we were quite confident,” Shinn said.

“With respect to David Pfieffer the trainer, he’s a pretty astute trainer when it comes to travelling horses interstate, and even in Sydney.

“We were quietly confident he would run well and the race set up nicely for him and the horse delivered, it was a great effort.”

Glint Of Silver is a $26 in the 2023 Australian Guineas futures market with online betting sites.
