Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted February 22, 2023 Journalists Share Posted February 22, 2023 What Moonee Valley Races Where Moonee Valley Racing Club – 2 Feehan Ave, Moonee Ponds VIC 3039 When Friday, February 24, 2023 First Race 6:15pm AEDT Visit Ladbrokes An eight-race card is set to greet punters on what is the penultimate Friday night meeting of the season at Moonee Valley. With perfect conditions forecast for racing, there should be no excuses for fancied runners throughout the night, especially considering how fairly the Moonee Valley track has been playing in recent times. We start on a Soft 5 due to the warm weather forecast, but expect the track to be a Good 4 throughout the night. The rail comes out 5m the entire circuit for the meeting commencing at 6:15pm AEDT. Best Bet at Moonee Valley: Foxicon Peter Moody’s Foxicon returned from a lengthy spell with a dominant two-length victory at the Moonee Valley 955m on February 2. Back to the same track and trip, she looks hard to beat in this. The four-year-old mare settled close to the speed on that night, and despite struggling for a run on the home turn, once she was clear, the Foxwedge mare sprinted sharply to go on and record her second victory at start five. She goes up 2.5kg from that night, but with Jamie Kah sticking on board from barrier two, she draws to gain every favour in running and looks the clear best bet of the night at better than even money with online bookmakers. Best Bet Race 4 – #1 Foxicon (2) 4yo Mare | T: Peter Moody | J: Jamie Kah (58.5kg) $2.10 with Bet365 Next Best at Moonee Valley: Sparring We will be looking to continue the winning momentum into the opening leg of the quaddie when the Ron Stubbs-trained Sparring steps out over 1000m. The four-year-old gelding packed plenty late over the 955m on February 10, and despite the 0.3-length winning margin, he seemed to have the measure of Starz Barwon, who he meets again on Friday. Celine Gaudray hopping on with her 3kg claim is massively beneficial, so he gets in with just 61kg on his back. From barrier 11, look for Gaudray to use this bloke’s early gate speed and have him settled outside leader throughout. With a nice turn of foot, a touch of class and race fitness on his side, Sparring should bring up a third win from four starts. Next Best Race 5 – #1 Sparring (11) 4yo Gelding | T: Ron Stubbs | J: Celine Gaudray (a3) (64kg) $3.50 with Palmerbet Best Value at Moonee Valley: Danny’s St Darci Archie Alexander sends his in-form mare Danny’s St Darci back to the Moonee Valley 1200m following a smart win at the track and trip last time out on January 28. The win came in a Fillies & Mares BM70, and despite coming up against the boys this time around, she looks to present great value with online betting sites. Celine Gaudray sticks on board, and her 3kg claim allows the All Too Hard mare to go around with 60kg on her back – only 0.5kg more than what she won with at her last start. With the key speed influencers in the race drawn to her outside, Danny’s St Darci should gain a perfect cart across the field and slot into the one-one. From there, Gaudray should have no issue in finding clear air on the home turn and running away with the prize. Best Value Race 8 – #2 Danny’s St Darci (7) 4yo Mare | T: Archie Alexander | J: Celine Gaudray (a3) (63kg) $9 with Betfair Friday quaddie tips for Moonee Valley Moonee Valley quadrella selections Friday, February 24, 2023 1-3 1-2-8-9-11 1-4-6-12 2-8-12-14 Investment: $160 for 100% Latest horse racing tips View the full article
