Right You Are extends his picket fence to four-in-a-row with an ultra-impressive win in the Listed Victoria Gold Cup with Ethan Brown and Ciaron Maher & David Eustace kicking off Blue Diamond Stakes Day with the favourite winning the first.

Ethan Brown took the odds-on elect to the front of the field and with only a small amount of pressure being applied by Vow And Declare on his outside, the So You Think gelding had the race run to suit for the entire 2100m journey.

When the field turned into the home straight, the $1.55 favourite with online betting sites was the only horse you wanted to be on and he bounded clear and put up a three-length margin with 200m to go and Brown throttled him down late to record an easy 1.25 length victory.

Maher & Eustace have a massive day ahead at Sandown and the former spoke post-race about the win of Right You Are in the opening event on Blue Diamond Stakes Day.

“Yeah super,” Maher said.

“He’s in career-best form and he had the fitness edge.

“Ethan’s (Brown) got as much confidence as the horse at the moment so the combination worked.

“It was a pretty easy watch.

“He keeps ticking up the grades and I think he likes it on top of the ground, so we will see if Sydney is an option, if not maybe over to Adelaide.

“I think he can get to 2400 (metres) and his pedigree says he would… he’s a stayer in good form so now is the right time to test it.”

Ethan Brown has now ridden this gelding at all four of his wins this time in and he spoke post-race after yet another win.

“Going back to the start of the prep you would never have thought that he would be $1.50 in a Stakes race, but that just how good Ciaron and Dave are,” Brown said.

“He’s really matured mentally.

“He used to get very worked up and he’s gotten better.

“I said last start ‘that’s the best he’s been’, but today he’s even improved again and relaxed out in front.”
