First Race 5:45pm AEDT

Visit Ladbrokes

This Thursday night, racing heads to Pakenham for the third time in the space of seven days. With plenty of action at the track in recent times, the rail comes out 5m the entire circuit; however, the track at Pakenham should play fairly throughout the eight-part meeting, with every runner getting their chance if good enough. We kick off the night of racing at 5:45pm AEDT on a track rated a Soft 5.

Best Bet at Pakenham: Who Dares

The Pat Carey-trained Who Dares arguably brings the best form lines into any event at Pakenham on Thursday and we hope he can get the job done first-up from a near six-month spell. The three-year-old colt was last seen finishing 3.5 lengths off Bank Maur, The Fortune Teller and Elliptical and prior to that wasn’t far off Berkeley Square, Fast Witness and Tijuana in Stakes company at Flemington. He resumes over 1200m, a trip he finished a nose off Fast Witness on debut and then subsequent Australian Guineas place-getter Japanese Emperor at start two. He only needs to run up to those types of ratings here on Thursday and Who Dares should prove too classy for this lot at start five.

Best Bet

Race 2 – silks#6 Who Dares (10)

3yo Colt | T: Pat Carey | J: Blaike McDougall (59kg)

Next Best at Pakenham: Sisterhood

We will be looking to make our impact felt in the opening two events as the Ciaron Maher & David Eustace-trained Sisterhood steps out in the opener. The three-year-old was hitting the line with great intent over 1000m here on February 16 when giving her rivals a start and flashing home for second. This event is no harder and if Teo Nugent can have the American Pharoah filly settled a touch closer from barrier two, her turn of foot looks to be more than good enough for a maiden field like this. The $2.40 with online bookmakers might be a bit tight, but we are hoping Sisterhood is just too good for this lot.

Next Best

Race 1 – silks#11 Sisterhood (2)

3yo Filly | T: Ciaron Maher & David Eustace | J: Teo Nugent (57kg)

$2.40 with Neds

Next Best Again at Pakenham: Rockin’ Zain

Jerome Hunter’s Rockin’ Zain was hitting the line strongly from the rear of the field at the Pakenham 1400m on February 23 and as he returns to the track and trip second-up he looks hard to beat. The four-year-old son of Wayed Zain continually gives his rivals a start from the rear of the field, but if Damien Thornton can have this bloke settled one or two pairs closer to the speed, then Rockin’ Zain has a turn of foot that not many of these can match. Between Alluring Rebel and Turf Flyer, the race should be run at a good enough tempo for Rockin’ Zain to swoop on his rivals inside the final 100m.

Next Best Again

Race 7 – silks#4 Rockin’ Zain (9)

4yo Gelding | T: Jerome Hunter | J: Damien Thornton (60kg)
