Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted March 8, 2023 Journalists Share Posted March 8, 2023 What Otaki Races Where Otaki Racecourse – 47 Te Roto Rd, Otaki, New Zealand When Friday, March 10, 2023 First Race 12:26pm NZDT Visit Ladbrokes The Friday thoroughbred meeting in New Zealand this week is held at Otaki, kicking off at 12:26pm (NZT). The day looks to be a fairly tame affair, the calm before the Group 1 storm on Saturday. Hopefully we can line our pockets with some notes to make the weekend even more enjoyable. Best Bet: Pride Of Aspen The best bet of the day comes straight away in race one, which also happens to be the highest-graded race on the seven-part card. It is very hard to go past Pride Of Aspen on her local track. She was well beaten here last start, but that was at weight-for-age level and in Group 1 company. She was there most likely to help the club out and make the field up to eight runners. Her form prior was near enough, and in some of those efforts she just never got the rub of the green, but today in a small field she should get the run of the race. The unstoppable Michael McNab steps into the irons, and with some rain forecast in the days leading up to this meeting she will also get track conditions to suit. This looks a great way to kick off all multi bets. Best Bet Race 1 – #2 Pride Of Aspen (2) 4yo Mare | T: J Benner & H Wynyard | J: M McNab (58.5kg) Bet with Palmerbet Next Best Bet: Ribbons The astute local stable of Jonno Benner and Holly Wynyard is set to top-and-tail the meeting with promising mare Ribbons set to bounce back from a couple of unlucky recent efforts. She won her maiden here second-up three runs back and in two efforts since then has just found herself in difficult spots during the running. She has been crying out for a true middle-distance test, and being by Reliable Man she can be expected to only improve further as she matures. Michael McNab will probably be looking to settle a bit closer to the speed today, while Ribbons should be at a backable each-way price. Next Best Race 7 – #6 Ribbons (10) 4yo Mare | T: J Benner & H Wynyard | J: M McNab (56.4kg) Bet with Neds Best Value Bet: Linda Lola Linda Lola was asked to do too much last time out at Waverley when her jockey asked for an 800m sprint, which even top horses can’t sustain, so understandably she faded down the home straight. He effort prior for fifth was full of merit; after getting clear late and not having much room, she fought right to the line. The drop back in distance to 1400m looks ideal, and the likelihood of a wet track should also play in her favour. Ridden with a bit more patience early, she is more than capable of causing an upset in this handy field of mares. Best Value Race 5 – #7 Linda Lola (7) 7yo Mare | T: J Rathbone | J: L Hemi (55.5kg) Bet with Bet365 Friday quaddie tips for Otaki races Otaki quadrella selections Friday, March 10, 2023 2-6-8-14 2-3-6-7 1-2-8-9 6 Investment: $64 for 100% More horse racing tips View the full article
