Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted March 10, 2023 Journalists Share Posted March 10, 2023 What Echuca Cup Day 2023 Where Echuca Racecourse – Cr Scott Rd and Murray Valley Hwy, Echuca VIC 3564 When Sunday, March 12, 2022 First Race 12:50pm AEDT Visit Ladbrokes The Echuca Cup is the feature event on Sunday afternoon as racing heads to Echuca Racecourse, where an eight-race program is set down for judgement. Perfect conditions are set to greet punters on the weekend with the track coming up a Good 4, while the rail sticks to the true position. The action kicks off at 12:50pm AEDT for the first meeting at the track since November 1, 2022. Echuca Cup Top Tip: My Boy Birmingham The Echuca Cup run over 1400m has attracted a strong field as always and we are hoping first-up from a spell My Boy Birmingham can strike at a price. The five-year-old gelding is as honest a front-runner you could hope for and in a race where he looks set to gain an uncontested lead, he looks a great play here. He had a genuine pipe-opening trial at Terang in the lead-up to this event, and considering he does his best work on firmer going, that hitout should only help him as he tries to run his rivals off their feet. Dean Holland is a massive bonus, as he has steered this bloke to victory in five of the 10 races they have competed in. With a cheap sectional or two out in front, we’re confident My Boy Birmingham can salute in the Echuca Cup and do it at a nice price with online betting sites. Echuca Cup Race 7 – #8 My Boy Birmingham (9) 5yo Gelding | T: Tony & Calvin McEvoy | J: Dean Holland (54kg) $12 with Ladbrokes Best Bet at Echuca: Lempicka The Ken & Kasey Keys-trained Lempicka has three wins from three starts when fresh, and on her return from a four-month spell we expect that record to remain intact. The four-year-old mare also has two wins and a minor placing from four goes at the 1000m, with both wins coming fresh off a spell. Those types of numbers jump off the paper, and in a race that looks perfectly suited for her, she looks a clear best bet of the day. Considering she wants a genuine tempo in her races, Who Shot Suzy will provide just that, and as long as Patrick Moloney does not get trapped wide in the small field, we anticipate Lempicka will prove too hard to hold out in the opening leg of the quaddie. Next Best Race 5 – #5 Lempicka (7) 4yo Mare | T: Ken & Kasey Keys | J: Patrick Moloney (54kg) $2.45 with Neds Next Best at Echuca: Dexa Bill Brent Stanley sends his four-year-old mare Dexa Bill to the Echuca 1600m, and she looks well-placed in her attempt to bring up a third win this campaign. The four-year-old mare has been there or thereabouts in recent times without much success, but from barrier one over the mile she draws to gain every advantage in running. The Fighting Sun mare boasts a record of 7: 2-2-2 at the trip, so she clearly relishes the distance, and with Kiran Quilty on board claiming 2kg, she looks well-weighted with just 58.5kg on her back. She will need a bit of luck on the home turn, but if Dexa Bill sees clear air at the right time, we’re confident she can take out what is an open event. Next Best Race 4 – #3 Dexa Bill (1) 4yo Mare | T: Brent Stanley | J: Kiran Quilty (a2) (60.5kg) $7.50 with Palmerbet Sunday quaddie numbers for Echuca Echuca quadrella selections Sunday, March 12, 2022 5-6 2-3-9-11 2-4-5-6-8-11 3-5-6-8 Investment: $192 for 100% More horse racing news View the full article
