Camino Rocoso (NZ) (Shocking) has won a few Cups in his eight seasons of racing and he will be looking to add another to his tally when he heads to Gore on Sunday.

The nine-year-old’s Cups haul currently sits at eight, with his latest addition to the mantle being the Greymouth Cup (2000m) in January.

Trainers John and Karen Parsons were pleased with his fourth place run in the Banks Peninsula Cup (1800m) at Riccarton last month and have decided to make the 14-hour round trip to Gore to compete in the AON Insurance Brokers & AB Lime Wyndham Cup (2000m) this weekend.

“He went alright last start and he’d have to be going well to go all that way down there,” Karen Parsons said.

“They tell me Humbucker is the one to beat but I am happy with my horse.”

Camino Rocoso has been lumbered with 60.5kg with jockey Jason Laking aboard.

“He is carrying a bit of weight. He is always up at the top weight, he never gets any relief,” Parsons said.

The Parsons haven’t made any set plans with their evergreen galloper and will wait to see how he comes through his weekend run before eyeing his next challenge.

“We will just take each day as it comes,” Parsons said.

Camino Rocoso will be joined on the float trip south by stablemate Koputaroa.

The five-year-old gelding is raced by Parsons, who also bred the son of Pins, and she is expecting a bold showing in his fresh-up run in the Les Frisby Contracting/Titiroa Transport/Beatties Collision Repair (1335m).

“I think he will go well too if (Terry) Moseley rides him alright. He is working super,” Parson said.
